I just got my refurb of my palm pre and she was excited about the Evo and I said too bad Tampa has no 4g. She said the clearwire techs are working right now but the reason it was not announced is that their are some endangered birds nests in some of the towers preventing them from doing anything until they naturally leave. She said Wimax should be running in Tampa by the end of the summer.

huh? if you watch the cnn video they dont put up towers they just add to the existing one.. unless tampa has no 3g which I am doubting but I dunno going by the cnn money video 4g doesnt use any extra towers they basically connect a file cabinet size unit to the existing 3g infrastructure getting it more bandwidth

I never said they were putting up new ones. They can't add to some of the towers because there are birds living in them.

then the birds wouldnt matter. Since the only thing they do is add more down bellow. so I call BS on this one

You do know if you scare the birds off the mother bird might leave the babies to die right? Stuff like this happens all the time..

Swallow Bird Nest
Swallow mud nest damage and deface the outer walls and eaves of residences and office buildings. They are as much a sore eye as they are a hazard. These insect infested mud nest can ruin the architectural appearance of your building or home. If they are left on the building long enough staining will occur. Once swallows leave, and nests are left vacant new tenants appear (sparrows). In addition to leaving their nests swallows also leave their insects behind. And without hosts these insect tend to move in to your home to find new hosts. Ideally swallow prevention is recommended. If your swallow prevention window is missed removal of the nest is a must.

Swallows and the law

Swallows and their nests are fully protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918, which makes it illegal to intentionally kill, injure or take any migratory bird. It is illegal to intentionally damage or destroy the nest, eggs, or young of a swallow while it is being built or in use. The Act allows fines or prison sentences for every bird, egg or nest destroyed.

Swallow Bird Nest Removal
Removal of swallow nests must be timed accordingly to their migration departure. Since swallows are a protected species, so are their nests. Therefore the nests should not be removed until swallows have migrated south and vacated their nests. Once the nests are vacant it is safe to rid your self from that unwanted nest and their parasites. The swallow nests harbor many swallow parasites ticks, fleas and bedbugs. So prior to removal, decontaminations is recommended. After it has been decontaminated we can begin to pressure wash the nasty nests. As soon as the nests have been removed it is recommended that a swallow prevention product is installed to prevent future mishaps.

I'm in the tower industry & "bird nesting" happens more than people know. Most times, any work at a tower-whether at the base, half way up or near the top has to wait until the endangered or protected bird is finished nesting. It's frustrating for carriers but they have to wait; it's federal law. I'm psyched though; once 4G in Tampa is launched I'm getting the new HTC thru Sprint.
