Root [International] Questions about galaxy s4 i9500!

So i bought this phone from some guy on craigslist and then I found out that it is an international version and I live in the United States so unfortunately I cannot get 4g connection with my tmobile network.

It is missing the action features (when I enable actions in the settings it does not let me click on it and actually go into it and see the settings) There are no gesture settings or anything like that. it is pure android without extra features.

I am guessing I need to root this phone and install a rom into it... This is something I have never done before but before i go and do research on this topic, what do you guys think? is this the right thing to do in order for me to get the features and to get 4g speeds again?

Anything will be helpful ,

thanks in advance :)

I9500 stock rom has air gesture support, just needs to be enabled. I9500 has no 4G, regardless of carrier. I heard of a report of someone getting a knockoff fake I9500 already. Not sure if that is the case, but it should have all the features of the S4 you see anyone with, minus 4G.

Thats the thing though, it does not have any features like the s4 should...

air gesture and all that other features do not work. not even multi-window.

I go to settings --> device --> enable the action toggle and when I try to click on action to go into settings, nothing happens....
same thing when i try to click on NFC/ S Beam and near equipment DNLA sharing.

Screen mirroring doesnt work either.
I tap on it and nothing happens....

I'm afraid I got a fake one shit.

Go to the dial pad and enter... *#1234#

You are taken to a screen entitled, "Version", with 3 lines of information. What do these read?

You can also go to...

Settings > More > About device

This should display your Model number, Android version and Build number

When I do *#1234# it says ussd code running then it says connection problem or invalid mmi code

model number is gt-i9500
android version 4.2.2
baseband version: MAUI.11AMD.W12.22.SP.V17,2013/05/08 11:12

kernal version 3.0.13 1313v12 Wed may 29 11:35:56 cst 2013

build number JDQ39.I9500ZHUAMDE

custom build version 1269278134

I think this phone is fake.

I think this phone is fake.

I am inclined to agree with you since the *#1234# is not bringing up the Version and all the other details do not correspond to Samsung firmware.

The, "Z", would normally indicate a Chinese or Taiwanese build but the only references I can find are...

That is some crap. Defiantly go after that seller with all legal means. Also look on craigslist if they are stilling another one. If so maybe the person knows they are not real and turning them for a quick buck, could lead to an easy "sting" operation if police are into arresting those breaking the law, it is there job to protect citizens from these things too when they can.

I think most of the clones I've heard about are of the 9500, I think partially maybe because they don't need hardware with LTE support to pull off that clone. Or, maybe they just thought cloning the octa-core version would be more profitable due to them not having the same production numbers as the easier to get 9505 (or other snapdragon based S4).
