I know this is a tired subject (root)

I got a Boost Galaxy S2 yesterday and I've been trying all morning to figure out how to root the dern thing. I've rooted quite a few phones in the past and never had such a hard time. I've been over and over the instructions from the root thread (sticky) and am still having trouble. I've got Odin and everything installed, plus drivers. Also Kies. But when I go to Odin to flash the kernel [KERNEL][JB][SOURCE][BST] GC01 + Agat's Recovery it doesn't work. I've extracted the image to a folder in my documents and Odin doesn't recognize it. I don't know if that was wrong or what? Isn't there a simpler method for rooting this phone???

Yes I want to root

Here is a link for the GC01 no data, which means it will root your phone and not wipe your current data from your phone, then use mobile odin to install the recovery and thats it.......

http://www.rwilco12.com/Files/Devices/Samsung%20Galaxy%20S2%20%28Sprint%29%20%28SPH-D710%29/Stock%20ROMs/JB/GB27/No%20Data%20Restore/Rooted/SPH-D710_GB27_1014481_Rooted_Nodata.exe

You will need to go into download mode which is hold your volume button down and power at the same time..

I used this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1311081

2c.) How to root by flashing Entropy512's Return/Unbrick to Stock, Kernel + Rooted System Package with Modem using Odin3 One-Click Downloader (Windows)
My phone is a Boost Mobile and now it's bringing the Sprint logo up before starting. Once it starts a screen comes up telling me to touch the android to get started, (like it's a brand new phone). Touching the android does nothing and all my processes start putting up error messages asking me to force close them. Is it bricked???

Sounds like you have managed to mess up your phone. Okay now to fix. First download and install kies if you haven't already (this will install the Samsung drivers) Now download the GC01 one click install from here
[ROM][ODIN][TAR]SPH-D710BST GC01 (GC01 Modem/Kernel/ROM - Root/Stock)

You want to download the exe file and and depending on how messed up you might want to do the restore one which will also wipe data.

Do not run Kies, and now run the exe to extract the installer then run the installer. Now put your phone in download mode, and then connect the phone to the pc via the usb cable (use the pc;s usb 2.0 port and not the 3.0 one if you have one). wait for the installer to light up a comport, and when it does, click the start on the installer. Follow the instructions in this order..
