Help No permanent LED notification lamp for message/call notifications

Doing some digging around here, it seems the LED timesout on older HTC phones after 5 minutes. This seems to be the case with the One. Are other people seeing this? I would've hoped it blinked until the notifications were checked by the user. I get tons of emails throughout the night and the LED isn't blinking.

What are you guys using for notifications of SMS and missed calls? Im really disappointed that the HTC One will not allow a permanent LED notification light, seems a real backward step to me, even the pulsing ones stop pulsing after a very short time

Are HTC aware of this flaw? They need to sort it ASAP

Is there someone at HTC I can ask?

this is not limited to the HTC ONE. earlier HC models also exhibit this behavior.

sure,

Calling it a flaw is a bit much in my opinion (I know everyone has one :) ) but I understand your gripe.

Ther HTC Desire had a permanent LED. Im hoping they will alter their setting of this with a software upgrade. What are the chances do you reckon?

the evo 4g lte and the evo 3D (and if i recall the original EVO as well) did this timeout behavior.

its worth a couple minutes of your time to message them and let them know. 'course you can root and that will open you up to other possibilities over stock....

Cheers marctronixx, I have posted my question on their facebook page and will let you know if they respond. Ill wait until the warranty expires before I think about rooting.

After learning this bit of news. I may have to skip over the HTC One. I need the LED notification to last more than 5 minutes. It appears that apps will not solve this problem. I'm sure rooting would fix it but I'm not the rooting type.

There isn't a need for a steady blinking light on the One. That's because when the phone chimes for a message you are going to hear it from 3 rooms over. You will remember that loud chime and who needs a light. Most people steadily check their messages anyway, that's why there is no steady blinking notification light.

what about something like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rageconsulting.android.lightflowlite

anyone tried anything like that to solve this?

also, i think the pro version might be able to do different colors for contacts. not sure, never looked into it, as i use all the main colors already and it's really hard telling sky blue and blue apart from a distance in that little light. hell, i have issues with blue/purple sometimes.

edit: after doing 2 minutes worth of actual searching... no, LightFlow does not work this way on the One, and that's disappointing.

Coming from Blackberry I got used to the apps that you could assign different color led for different contacts. This phone doesnt change led color, that to me is far worse then the timeout. Its a feature I really miss.

In the HTC phones I have ever owned they have never included that option. I would suggest sticking to phones made by BlackBerry. I don't want a smartphone that lights up like a X-mas tree.

Well since the option is available on other android phones I think I am not the only one who finds this feature useful. I do miss my Blackberry. Maybe my next upgrade they will produce a phone I am interested in again.

Advertising and being like everyone else has been the downfall with HTC. That's why they are moving away from the old way and thus we have the HTC One. I love this phone and it reminds me of my Sony Trniton tv with the placement of the speakers and the color.

When a buddy has a Galaxy Note and wonders why he can't send or receive group text messages in one thread I know that's a Samsung problem. HTC has always given me what I need in a smartphone.

cmon now.. seriously.. a permanent led? when you sleep at night.. your not looking at your led.. you wake up your phone and look at it.. dont you.. also.. while on charge.. you cant see the led anyway..

now i agree.. it would be nice.. but.. i personally have my phone in front of me in the office.. and notice the blink..

The attraction with android was always customization.

I had an LED on my HTC Desire and loved it and its a backward step that HTC have taken with the HTC One notifications :(
