So the Moto X is going to be one awesome phone. Sure, it might not be able to go spec for spec with the big boys. But where it shines is the experience.

Whelp, if the G2 fails to launch on Verizon (and I highly doubt VZW will carry the Nexus 5), then my choices are thinning out fast

I sure hope the Verizon version is either 32GB or expandable. TAKE MY MONEY!

I'm seeing reports all over the place that Nexus 5 WILL be on Verizon Q3 2013. That said, I might be very premature in jumping on the Moto X...

My Nexus can hold out until Q3, but what if its launch turns into the taffy pull that the Galaxy Nexus launch was? AAAUUUGHHHH!

All rumors keep saying LG is making it based on the G2.

No one really knows at this point, though signs tend to point towards LG again at this point in time.

The word on the street is that since Motorola is a Google company, they are not giving it special treatment as far as Nexus devices go. So, from those reports, no Motorola device will ever be branded as a Nexus device.

I'd use the moto x the way it comes, just as I use my nexus 4..too many people flash stuff for no reason except to say yeah I have a ROM,blahblahblah..all the Roms I had on my nexus 4 seemed the same, I had CarbonROM all the way up to Illusion V2 and Aliendroid 3.0..unrooted returned to stock last week,..yeah some stuff was cool but, kinda defeats the purpose of what the original idea was and $350+ could be lost within seconds if something isn't flashed right through ADB, or even flashing a ROM from another phone which a lot of people do

But I do wanna learn to build my own ROM, something more for battery and features that anybody can edit

The purpose is that it is opened sourced. So you can either leave it as is or like you want battery saving purposes.

I don't think most root and Rom to say the have a certain Rom. There are a lot of nice features that ROMs add. They are not fit everyone though.

If you had a Pantech Breakout like me, you were forced to root and install a custom ROM to be able to insall any apps after Verizon's bloatware.

It kills me when people are like, oh it only has 16 GB of memory and no SD card. I'm like, come on, I was working with 356 MB. My OG Droid has less. Which is why I'm so wanting the Moto X (Mods, I made it back on topic )

But it was becuase of the Pantech Breakout's low memory that I found my way here. So in the end it worked out.

Even if i had a nexus device, i dont mind admitting that id still wana use themes to make it look sexy. I love android and hate OEM skins but im certainly not a google android purist, im somewhere in between and the beauty of android is that im catered for

So the Verizon roadmap through August has the HTC One (is the Max coming too?) and Moto X arriving late summer. I'd love to peek at the fall/winter roadmap to see what's coming around the holidays besides the Ultras...

I think Verizon line-up typically has been better in the second half of the year than the first half. Hopefully we will see X, Ultra, G2, Note 3 and possibly Nexus 5 (not hold breath on it though) by late fall. G2 looks intriguing to me and I like LG used soft buttons on it.

I would expect the note 3, but I'm not sure of anything else on the high end. Probably will be a an LG thrown in there somewhere and other medium to low end devices as well.

No the SoC does not have to come from Taiwan (although it might, it might not).

And I've yet to buy the rumors that ATT has a lock on the colors.

We all know the basics about the phone: while it might conflict with some users' "best specs = best phone" mentality by providing mid-high specs instead of high-end, the phone is advertised as being all about the functionality and the experience, quite like the iPhone. Of course, the rumoured price range of the phone ($199-$299USD off contract), as well as the ability to customize it adds to the appeal.

Do you guys think it will be a major hit or not? I'll have to admit that I'm one of those guys who definitely leans toward the "high specs is all that matters" mentality as I thought this would make phones as future proof as possible. As a result, I initially neglected this phone and tunnel visioned my way towards getting the Nexus 5.

However, I couldn't help but become more curious about this phone's prospects. Since it's heavily rumoured to be officially released in August, I guess I can see how the Moto X unfolds over time and then decide whether to go for the Nexus 5 or the Moto X.
