Ive always preferred wifi over data when im at home for obvious reasons but I just noticed how slow my wifi is.

It is pretty strange that i get better $G speeds than wifi. this is my speedtest on wifi on my phone

and this is my speedtest on my computer

I mean I know it would never be close but this is more than a 90% decrease..

Whats the deal here?

well teh problem with it all is you just dont really know. there could be tcp congestion on your device, your router could have been overloaded. your isp only has to provide speeds "up to" some like brighthouse offer burst speeds of 20 down when its only like 13 normally... (so it looks great on a speedtest but sucks for downloading files). signal strength could have been an issue, interference. wireless has always been a much trickier than with so many variables....

well either way don't base your satisfaction by a speed test result based on numbers. alot of you guys are doing that.base your satisfaction on things like when u browse the web if it takes you to your site quickly if your downloads on your mobile device quickly download the file u need if youtube plays without buffering much or at all. seems every mobile device is judged by benchmark numbers and internet speed test and if they don't meet expectation users get bummed out by it. Think differently. think outside the box. Also im not sure whats the max speed for cellphones with wifi for example computer ethernet ports are capped at a certain point believe it or not i belive it or not. just recently they have been pushing it further with high performance ethernet cards and boosting the spped compatbilities. My point? i believe the wifi antenna on our phones can only go so fast so regardless if u have speeds above 100 mb/s im not sure if your phone could ever reach that far.

Is your computer hard wired into your router? Were both these tests done at the same time? Do you own your router and if so have you provisioned it correctly? Interference is a huge cause for losing wireless performance. Best thing to do is make sure nobody is capping it via the router and if not, changing the channel to ensure you have as little interference as possible. If you have your own router you can always load up different firmware like tomato if compatible for optimal control and performance.
