People overlooked BIG numbers from today's (24 July, 2013) Google announcement

1 million apps in Play Store is more than apple store.
Mid June apple announced 900,000 apps in their version of the Play store

50 billion downloads in Play Store is a virtual tie with apple store.
Play Store went from 48 billion on 15 May to 50 billion on 24 July. Meanwhile apple hit 50 billion in mid-May.

While both numbers above can be seen as a tie or apple having a slight edge. Certainly, by Fall, at the current growth projections, Android will lead in both categories. No way Android dominance in both totals can be denied come Xmas time.

What i hated about the event was the dude kept saying "just works" in a steve jobs kinda way

At first I thought that the new Nexus 7 was a must get because of something that was barely mentioned yesterday. The SlimPort in the new Nexus 7 enables HDMI output. But with Chromecast, not sure how necessary that is anymore.

Yeah Cast looks excellent. The only problem is that devs are gona have to build it into their apps

I wonder if Cast means theyll completely drop the Nexus Q idea?

Wonder if theyll make some kinda cloud gaming service for Cast using your device as a controller.... it seemed a bit slow/delayed in the demo for that though
