I should have seen this coming. As we all know apps have an auto update option, and many of us choose the "only on wi-fi" but you may want to change that to never update at all.
One of the paid apps I bought about 6 months ago was called CHAOS, it was a helicopter type game. I went to start the game the other day, wouldn't boot at all. Went to their site, they did an update which did not include support for anything older than 2.3, and I contacted them and they ultimately said there was no legal way they could let me re-install the old version.
But it's legal to rip me off. You would think they could make the update system smart enough to not update an app out of compatibility but I guess that's too difficult.
So all my apps are now set to never update. You all might think about doing the same since most updates are for something trivial anyway.
I didn't pay that much for the game of course but it's the point. I paid for it, it was on my machine and worked fine. They messed with it and broke it.

Where's my binky?

So why not root and update your phone, so you can still keep playing the game?

FWIW, I keep auto update disabled by default. I never update an app without first checking what was fixed, added or removed and then check the reviews to see if it's broken. If an update sounds sketchy and I still want to try it, I backup the app so the update can be uninstalled and the backup restored.

Exactly.

I also regularly back up all my apps, using ES File Explorer, just in case I need to go back to an earlier version, or if an app disappears from the market and I need to reinstall it, perhaps on another device, or after resetting a device.

At least one app I constantly use has disappeared from the market: "craigsnotifica", and I haven't found a comparable Craigslist notification app yet. I've tried a couple, but so far, they are all lame compared to "craigsnotifica". Good thing I have a backup. (If anyone knows of a good one, please let me know.)

My phone is rooted (I need to delete the alog files so left it that way) and that was easy, however I explored the idea of installing CM7 and it's neither easy nor risk free enough for me to want to hassle with it. I mean how many times have I read a post where someone's done all these mods and bricked their phone? Lost count. So thanks for the tip but I'm in that group that figures the reason my phone still works after 2 years is because I haven't f***ed with it too much.

Actually, I can't remember anyone bricking their Triumph. Still waiting. It's basically considered to be unbrickable.

LOL, you aren't looking very hard. 2 from a thread on the first page of this board:

I think I may have bricked my MT I did the cwm recovery thing and CM7 a few months ago. Found out I didn't care for it much so I reverted back to the stock. But lately my phone has been rebooting out of nowhere all by itself. So I thought it may've been from me modding it. So today after it reboot itself I decided to "try" to take off cm7 & cwm recovery. I deleted everything and tried starting from scratch as to make it 100% stock. I did save everything before I did it to my comp, but now I don't know which order or where things go or how they go! I can't boot my phone or get into download mode, it just vibrates! I've tried alot of different things, like putting stock rom winrar file on, thats to big to fit even with nothing at all even on my phone. I tried putting clockworkmod back on, nandroid backup, recovery img, splash, shortcut recovery all of these things in all sorts of combinations... I am sooo newb to this, someone PLEASE help me!? I feel so lost without my phone & its only been a few hours!

Guys,
I was trying to go back to stock for PRL update because wifes phone next time mine does not get signal. I was hoping an update would help. Yes, I have ready all stuff on PRL's
Anyhow, could not restore back to stock. Tried following this guide, and not I only get the android restore screen(triangle with !). I can get to download mode and see image, tried to put on original image and no luck...Should I restore cwm image to see if will boot. Any ideas, and what files should be in the image file? Should I overwrite? Thanks for help in advance.
