Hi.

I'm going on a trip and hoping to bring as little gear as possible. I'm trying to see if I can take the MicroSD card out of my camera and pop it in one of these:

memory card reader 5-1 on eBay

to backup the family pics at the end of each day.

Questions:
1)will it work ;)
2)would I mount that manually(not a problem) or will it automount. If so, where?
3)I'm very familiar with linux and would fancy rsync over any other method. I presume if 2) is yes then rsync shouldn't be an issue. However, has anyone had any experience(s) that would defer from what one would expect?

Any other comments/questions are welcome...Just don't tell me to use Windows ;)

Thanks in advance, Phil.

EDIT: forgot to enquire about the whole Samsung 5 pin / 11 pin issue. Would that be relevant here?

I'd prefer the OTG solution.
It's simply an extension of the phone's storage and wouldn't restrict the funktion of apps which have their data on the external SD card.
They wouldn't find their data on the camera's SD card ;)

Since ICS Apps and data are no longer able to be moved to the External SD card. The Data for the app would be on the Internal SD.

True :) ... if you haven't apps with a huge amount of data like offline navigation and offline dictionaries. They've still their GBs on the external SD card (okay ... I admit, you can choose the storage ;) ).

Thanks for all the replies.

I ended up ordering this on ebay. Then I'll just connect a card reader to that. Hoping this will also allow me to connect a keyboard and anything alease I might need via a USB hub.

Doesn't look like I'll get it before the trip though :( backup plan is what GTWalling suggested. Put the card in the phone and sink to the cloud.
