Root MetroPCS LG L9 root help

I know your a noob and all but have u ever thought of looking at your model number

Model number is LGMS769, which is different from the T-Mobile variant (LGP769) which is rotatable. Now I've read a rooting method for the MetroPcs variant in another thread here which reportedly works, unfortunately it's a bit too complicated for me and I don't think it'd be a good idea to start something unless I'm sure of what I'm doing. Now I've rooted all my other phones but only with stuff like ... put this apk in here, execute it ... and you're done thingy ... the one for the LGMS769 that is available so far is not that straightforward, at least not to me.

In any case, thank you for taking the time to respond.

I followed the Lelus guide as well and once everything was finished flashing, I didn't see SuperUser or anything root related...

I still have no clue what I did wrong.

Yeah I saw the Lelus guide and I know others have had problems with it. I think that method was originally intended for the LGP769 running ICS and has had mixed results for the MetroPcs variant, not sure though. In any case I couldn't follow the guide fully, so if there's one or more steps I'm not sure of I'm not inclined to try. I think I'm gonna sit tight and wait for the easy 1-2-3 method which I hope is gonna pop up somewhere in the near future.

How and is it easy

How?: HERE

Is it easy?: Depends on your level of knowledge in this area. I've rooted several phones but with easy methods. To me the Lelus method is too complicated insofar that the instructions assume you know certain terminology and concepts which is not the case for some of us. I'd need step-by-step instructions that assume I know next to nothing about manipulating Android systems.

Good luck.

Then you have to use this method. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173465

The modified .bin file for our phone is on the first post of this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2314333 and you can grab the .kdz on page 4 (post 31 or 32) of the same thread.

This process would probably be considered "Moderate Difficulty"

The first time that I managed to flash it correctly I didn't see the SuperSU + BusyBox apps so I had assumed that I did something wrong, they were in fact there and I just needed to refresh my apps drawer for them to show up. Don't make the same mistake :smokingsomb:

Once you're rooted you can go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2095825 and download L9 Recovery Installer which is an APK that will install CWM on your phone.

Can i brick the phone trying to root it ? I want to root it but unsure .

From what I've read so far, this phone is unbrickable.

As long as you know how to use the LG Support Tool you can always use it to do an emergency recovery back to stock.

Make sure the Support Tool can install drivers and such on your PC... I've had a few issues trying to install the drivers on my Windows XP machine and wound up having to switch to my main rig (which has Windows 8) to root my phone.
