I have relatives who stayed oop North while I moved away as a kid. On the rare occassions I see them, I often find myself asking them to "repeat that in English" ..

Coincidentally, maybe, I had a Danish friend years ago who swore that when she first visited the North East she could understand everyone no problem, despite barely speaking a word of English.

I know the terms. How in hell does Siri know which part of country uses what colloquialism?

New England differentiates between Mary, Merry, and Marry. How can AI tell when the rest of the country can't or doesn't.

My kid, who used to watch "All in the Family" heard the real thing a couple of years ago on a bus trip where we went through NY and asked me if the people were speaking English! Does AI speak Brooklyn or Queens? My aunt did change oi and er. You flushed the terlet. How about BAAHSTON?

I've heard "Let's go for a dope" meaning Coca-Cola. And what if someone like Stinky buys an American phone? He's got his own slang.
