Root Google maps problems.

Good luck! Even before the map update, I had none of these issues so maybe it was just a bad install?

It started with the Maps Update from the Play Store. First time I read about the issue I tried Navigation and had no issue. Thought the same at first about a bad or maybe dirty flash issue but then later saw the update for Maps in the Play Store and it started after downloading. I hope that its either a Google or CM issue with whatever was changed in the new Maps update and is resolved by one of those party's, would be nice if its the case otherwise if you have a backup of the previous version of Maps it works fine. I may need to track it down and post it but I did some messing around and after clearing data for Maps why on wifi I opened up Maps before Navigation and the accept terms came up that had not when I started with the Navigation icon first. After that I took a trip to the store and it seemed to be ok but the store is not all that far away. With that said the new update for Maps, at least on the Navigation side kind of sucks. Anyhow in short if you are still on the previous version of Maps and have not updated would recommend not checking auto update and stay on the previous version of Maps for now.

Took a two hour drive in unfamiliar territory yesterday not even knowing Maps had been updated. I was so angry at the new Navigation sucking so bad, and graphical glitches, not finding a GPS signal, new interface, and the freaking blue arrow that's supposed to represent me moves slightly instead of staying straight and the map moving around it! Was also mad to find that it updated several days ago, and I have Titanium set to back everything up once a day, so my previous version was long gone. Someone PLEASE post a link to the last version.

First, thanks for all the hard work, I love this ROM. I fired up Google Maps this morning to find 7.0.2 installed on my phone after an automatic update. I started Navigation, and it immediately began to glitch and tear the screen. Ever since then, even simply sitting on a plain map without navigation, the screen glitches and tears.

I'll probably downgrade maps, but I have to disagree with a lot the sentiment on the new maps update. From the bit I was able to use of it, I actually like the interface. As someone that went to CM/AOSP because of the simplicity, I like the simplified UI in the new Google maps.

I have uploaded to Mediafire the last version (6.14.4) before the latest update from my phone. I haven't received the latest update yet.
Maps.apk

Link isn't working.

I'm having the same issues both on an older Angry Bean version and after flashing to the newest. It gets me where I'm going but it certainly isn't ideal. I use my GPS very often for work.

Did anybody receive the new maps update with stock ICS ROM? Google says 4.0.3 is the minimum requirement but I still haven't received it. Just wondering if they blocked ICS completely.

I'm about to flash the ICS Sense Rom I been working on, let you know the version in a bit.

Just downloaded from the Play Store and received version 6.14.4.

Guess I can BUMP this thread to see if anyone else notices issues with Google Map app lately?

  • Loads very slow
  • When typing searches I cant add a space between words
  • Have to tap the screen several times before the app recognizes a selection
  • When streetview finally loads, you cant back out of it, have to press the home key
  • The menu swyped from the left side wont scroll all the way down to the last item, it sticks in the middle or the menu just goes away and hve to reswype to display again.
I cant find anything online thats a current topic on Google Map problems. I've read reviews in Googleplay where some have reported similar probs but no feedback from Google.
