I am torn between a couple of cases I have found through my research. This is the first time I have ever bought a case for a phone, and I was wondering what was everyone else's recommendations. Hard cases? Rubber/flexible cases? Invisible Sheild? Which case is your favorite and will offer the most protection?

(I understand these companies haven't released cases for the incredible yet, so just assume that these cases were adapted for the incredible)

I'm drifting towards the case-mate although I'm not sure on the differences between it and the Innocase II. Has anyone used both of these cases and can give me their opinions?

I can't say that I have used any of those yet, but I did order an Invisible Shield for my DInc. They are available. And if you put in your email address for the Ipad contest you can get up to 50% off your order.

From what I have learned of the Invisible Shield is that it gives the phone a "plastic" feel and sticks to your fingers when you use the touch screen. When you get your invisible shield, can you let me in on your opinions? Also, how did you order it? I can't finf the Incredible on their website.

my friend has an innocase on his iphone and i love the feel of it. it doesn't add much bulk and looks great. it adds a little weight but I think that would be good for the incredible (may make it feel more well built) hopefully they will have cases soon. as far as screen protectors, I think I'm gonna wait for the steinheil crystal screen protectors for my incredible.

I agree that the Innocase has a nice look to it, but my question is if it provides as much protection as the case-mate?

Not to steal away from the specific cases you've mentioned but I'm wondering, these verizon cases : Verizon High Gloss Silicone Cover

Are they the typical super stretchy silicone or the new "crystal" silicone like these:
YouTube - Flex Crystal Skin Case

I would prefer the latter as the typical silicone case gets stretched out and annoys me.

Those look like nice alternatives although I am looking for the absolute most protection for this expensive investment. I want to be able to use my phone and not worry about damging the phone by dropping it. Money is not a deciding factor for me, all I want is the highest quality case on the market.

if i may chime in on this, any case in the world will not protect the screen from cracking upon impact on a hard floor or if the phone is on your waist and it gets crushed between you and a counter top or something. I had this very thing happen to me when i had my LG Voyager, and even the smallest impact on a hard floor from the right height even with a good case can't protect the screen, the only way to protect the entire phone is to buy a case thats like a sleeve. if your worried about protection, and your investment in it, this is the best way to go, so a clip case with a pocket/sleeve would work

Verizon has most of these still in stock on the website, the snap on cases are out of stock, but you can almost guarantee that there not really out of stock and that they put a freeze on sales until launch day.

sorry, went off topic there, just my two cents, hope that helps

Yes, it does give it a bit of a tacky feel. However, several people have said that once it "breaks in" and the oils on your fingers kind of rub into it, it gets less so. I have one on my Zune and it is a little sticky. But I don't mind the extra grip on it but then again, it isn't a touchscreen device.

See this is my worry too. I already have a good timbuk2 slip case I'm going to use with it but I know it needs more than that because the most likely time for damage is when it's out being used. So I'm torn between a skin, a screen protector skin w/hard case (snap, innocase 2 or really like that case-mate one), or ??? I also have a Voyager and have dropped it on the pavement several times (no case either). Strangely, no screen damage at all, works fine but definitely looks beat up. Funnily enough, my Voyager touch screen got much more scratched from simply using it, especially scrolling pages. So I don't want any of that to happen to my DI. I'm thinking of being super careful, using the timbuk2 case till more options come out. I'd love something that doesn't completely alter the form factor of the phone but offers protection and is easy to remove for docking. Basically, I want the impossible.

I beg to differ. This...

Speck | PixelSkin Case for iPod touch (2nd gen)

has prevented any damage to my ipod touch since I got it. Unfortunately it adds a bit of bulk but the grenade-like pattern of siliconized rubber on the surface of the case does a good job of absorbing pretty much any impact, even if it lands face down. Now, unfortunately they don't really make this or any of their cases for other cell phones. They seem to be an Apple and Blackberry exclusive company. Bottom line is you can protect your device, but most of us want minimal bulk added so it becomes a balancing act of trading off some protection for profile.

I have heard that as well, but several members here seem to swear by them. I have never used it but was going to give it a try. If I don't like it I will go with one of the crystal ones when they become available.

I was going put a link for invisible shield but I can't get the website to respond here at work. It is

www.zagg.com, and they had the Incredible on their site. However, I ordred mine on Sunday and they haven't shipped it yet.

Update:

This should be the link for the Incredible Invisible Shield.

I have an Incipio Ultra Light Feather case for my BB Tour, and love it. I preordered the Incredible and hope they eventually make one for the DI. It provides some protection against drops and scratches. For what I wanted, it has served its purpose well. You can look at the case here:

Incipio Carrying Cases - Ultra Light feather Slim Form Fitted Case for BlackBerry Tour 9630 - Black

I think a case is really a personal thing. I don't carry my phone in a holster and instead almost always have it in my pocket. When I was looking for a case for my Tour, I wanted one that was very thin, did not overwrap the face of the phone, and was made of a material that was not "sticky." I wanted one that would not add bulk and would slide easily in and out of my pocket. I am not hard on my phones, so the Incipio case is great for me. My wife, on the other hand, is quite hard on her phones since she carries it in a large purse, and is always putting things in and out of it due to our kids.

When it looked at one point like the Nexus One might be released first, I looked at the thin Case Mate cases and also the Innocase II that you mention.

I will probably hold off a month or two before I order a case. I would like to wait until Case Mate, Incipio, Seido and some others release cases.

I called Case-Mate and a Rep said that have been relieving calls and emails for the Incredible but they haven't started making a case yet. The Rep did say if enough people do email them they'll make one.

I was one of the ones who e-mailed them ;)

I understand that a phone may still break with a case on it, although I would rather have my phone drop with a case rather than without one.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I will probably monitor their websites to see any information on releases for the Incredible.

So far, I am drifting to buying a Case-Mate Tough Casem (if they ever release it) and a Phantom Skinz screen protector for the front. Your suggestions are always welcome.

I just can't understand what's so great about the Innocase II?

If money isn't a worry, wait for Vaja to design a hand stitched leather case for you. Those are amazing cases.
