Hey guys, I've scanned the forums for some topics on battery life and have some questions. I don't know if this is normal or not, but I hope not!

Anyways, as you can probably guess, my battery life is pretty bad. Two hours ago, I had it charged at 100%. Since then, I've seen it run down to 80%. No internet, no videos, etc. Wi-Fi has been on, I disabled 4G maybe 30 minutes ago. The only thing I've done is texted someone and, of course, looked at my battery life. The display is not on automatic brightness and is on one of the lowest settings.

I'm also running JuiceDefender, but it only gives me approximately 1.10x-1.15x now, down from 1.45x or so before, on aggressive mode.

Stock battery (I know it sucks, but it can't suck this badly!!!) I haven't rooted or anything either. Only have had it for a couple weeks, so it can't be age. I never get through a day without having to charge it at least partially. If I make it 10 hours with 30%, that might be a good day (with me doing my best not to use it too much once I see it draining.)

Any advice? I would prefer not having to root, I don't want to take any risks.

Juice defender only works if your not messing with the phone. Everything uses battery like widgets, tapatalk, weather, Google+, FB, YouTube, 3g radio and 4g. It ads up and I'm sure I left some out (my phone). What you have is a mini computer that can call people. Have fun with it and root away because it will only get better.

turn your radios off(wifi and 4G) only use them if you need them and only use 4G when wifi is not available.

shut off background data

set your email and anything else that is trying to sync to manual.

you should get at least 10-12 hours.

another suggestion would be to just take your charger with you and plug in if you're running low or carry a spare battery.

Will shuting off background data disrupt or interrupt anything? or theres no use for it

I installed the 2G-3G onoff app. i use it to switch over to CDMA only and now after 12hours my battery only drains down to 50% . i switch it back to CDMA/LTE when i upload or download anything then switch back to CDMA only when done. i found when i am in a area where 4G is not availble and have it set to CDMA/LTE i guess because it is constantly searching for a 4G signal it drains the battery real fast in like 3-4 hours. when i am in midtown NYC and have a solid 4G signal i will then and only then get about 10 hours when set to CDMA/LTE.
hope this helps

I just got the Connect on Tuesday, and fully charged it over night last night. Listened to an audiobook and played a little Draw something this morning and it was dead by lunch time. So approximately 4 hours. When i was at about 30% i installed Easy Saver and at that point it didn't really seem to help. Then after reading all the energy saving tips someone made a really great point. Even with all the energy saving tips, like turning down brightness and turning off 4G or WiFi (which my WiFi was off this morning) it doesn't really make enough of a difference on the stock battery, you might squeeze a little extra time with those, but they have some 3500mah up on eBay right now for about $7 with free shipping, and they come with the cover too. Even if they aren't high end 3500mah batteries, i am sure they would at least double the stock battery life.

Well, I looked into rooting a bit, but I really do not want to brick my phone. I also read that there are several different ways you can root (well that's what I understood it to say, but maybe it meant different people giving different sets of instructions, some of which may be more or less unclear than others), so which one should I pick?

If I root,
(a) How can I "unroot"? I want my warranty!
(b) How can I avoid bricking my phone?
(c) What are the advantages?
(d) What are the disadvantages?
(e) What do I do once I root my phone? What does the ROM do, how do I underclock, can I delete all the bloatware, etc. What will rooting do to save my battery?

And is Juice Defender Ultimate worth it?

i replied to your thread concerning rooting and want to let you know that in my opinion any juice defender type apps are completely useless and a waste of time and money.

I concur.
I have major battery issues with my LG Connect.
Having juice defender doesn't seem to make much difference, but i use it anyway. Even if it saves a tiny bit of juice i guess it's worth a shot.

Flashing Black Plague 1.2 for LG Connect seemed to improve battery a lot.

I think I am just going to take the plunge and get the 3500mah battery even though it makes the phone bulkier, thereby defeating it's slim design.

Is there a longer lasting batter that can be put in an LG Connect?

Will it void the warranty?

Damage the phone?

I'm planning a vacation, and I don't know if the battery will last all day - in fact, I don't think it will.

I've seen this advertised: "QCell MetroPCS LG Connect 4G MS840 3850mAh Extended Battery + FREE Battery Cover!" - any good?

And this LG "Connect 4G ms840 OnTrion Extended Battery - LiION, 2600mAh with Extended Battery Door Compatible with: LG Connect 4G ms840 - better? Worse?"

I'm assuming the battery will be bigger and therefore the "Extended Battery Door" will make the phone fatter. Correct or not?

Any other suggestions?

Does anyone know what the ma/hr rating of the original battery is? I can't find it in the documentation that came with the phone - see replacements at 1500mah - is that right?

Thanks,
Bob

I hated battery life when I first got this phone when it first came out. After rooting, I installed ROM Toolbox, and froze all of the bloatware. I believe all those MPCS programs run in the background. Battery life improved dramatically.

Even though the battery in this phone is less then adequate.... This phone has out performed my previous phone which was a shit show and a POS. That is, me being a early adopter for LTE, and more specifically MetroPCS's LTE. I had the Samsung Galaxy Indulge. That thing would take years to charge once depleted. And depleted its battery quickly. Like if I was lucky, I could get 4~5 hours of life, just having the phone idle and doing nothing in a area with perfect LTE. The three things that phone was good at was dieing because of its battery guzzling nature, overheating, and rebooting because you looked at the phone.

When I got rid of that POS I was glad it was gone. The Connect on the other hand, I love and do not want to part with.
