Downloading as we speak over wifi, lets hope its 4.1.2 with multi window and notification icon settings, and ..... no bugs to drain my battery.... Oh yeah, bout freaking time att! if it is 4.1.2
This is not what you want to hear, but it is recommended with any major/minor OS update to do a factory reset to clear old files that are still left from the old OS. Like a clean install on a PC as opposed to a upgrade. I was having problems with mine till the Factory Reset.
Go to Settings/Back up and reset, then choose Factory data reset.

Can make a lot of differences, some of which may not show for a while, long after you've forgotten about the update, so you'll be troubleshooting with a bit more difficulty sometimes.
Classic bugs sometimes have to do with remnants in the cache partition trying to shake hands with the new stuff.. making things slow down or appear as if resources are being drained. But it's more complicated than that, and well worth the reset.
So, at a minimum, do the cache partition wipe from the recovery menu..and at best a FDR.
I'm rooted and got the notice today. I chose to keep the rooted recovery and to keep root access. in the end I got a message saying the update failed but my status shows 4.1.2 and I have the features.
I tried getting into the recovery menu and the instructions didn't work. They said to hold down both the + and - volume rockers while pressing the power button. Nothing happens until I let go of the power button, and then it reboots normally. Therefore, I can't wipe the cache. Am I missing something?

Mine has taken forever to download the file. It finally gets to 100% - and then nothing. I think it's done that twice - seeming to download the file, and then just quits. No install. It still shows that I have 4.1.1
So after downloading the firmware update for 4.1.2 does it automatically apply the update or give you an option to do it when you decide to? The reason why I ask is I was thinking about doing a factory reset before the update and after to start fresh. But, I don't want to do this until I know I can run the update right after the reset.

Mine was very confusing. It would seem to stop without completing and I got messages over several hours that an update was ready. It did finally finish the install just now. I haven't tested much, but it seems to be working.

I had the same issue, but it did eventually complete and seems to be working. They've added the ability to customize text tones for each contact without needing a separate app, but for whatever reason, the ability to edit the toggles on the notification shade didn't make it in, and that's really the only reason I wanted the update, so I'm disappointed by this.
