Just got this phone after being bored with an iPhone 5 and When attempting to connect my phone with a USB connection in my car I get a connection error on the display of my radio but the phone appears to charge (albeit extremely slow) and the USB icon is displayed. The phone also keeps bouncing between installer and media mode when plugged in, neither of which work. I've tried the OEM cable as well as a logitech one I have for another device with the same result.

Additionally, while I can pair my phone with my vehicle via bluetooth, it will only (slowly) download 12 of my 350 contacts. I noticed too, when I am listening to the Radio/XM and using google maps, the phone will not interrupt my radio with voice directions via bluetooth like my iphone did (which I really liked).

Has anyone encountered similar problems and i so, how did you resolve them? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I cannot help you at all on the navigation voice issue, because I keep navigation muted specifically so that it won't interrupt my music (and because like most GPS programs, it talks too much, particularly since you cannot turn off it saying street names).

Have you tried just connecting an ordinary charger and only connecting via bluetooth, or if you are going to use USB, turning off bluetooth?

Same with my Mazda. The phone will interrupt with voice directions only if my car audio is set to Bluetooth (i.e., if it is playing music from the phone). Music from any other source won't get interrupted with nav directions (although it will get interrupted by an incoming call).

My last phone (Bionic) did the same. I assume it has to do with the car, not the phone. When I actually want to hear my directions, I disable bluetooth, so the directions yell at me from the phone itself.

I have an optima which is basically the same car as yours... The usb port is not there to charge your device, it's only there for connecting it to your system. I haven't had any issue with the bluetooth not overriding the audio for directions nor an issue with the contacts. Try unpairing the phone and repairing it.

I liked using my iPhone through USB because when listening to music from the phone and the display was off, it would show me the music information on the radio display whereas when using bluetooth, it does not (it reads something along the lines of "using bluetooth device". Re-pairing the phone was the 1st thing i tried.

I'm not familiar with the unit in your car, but it should be able to show you the song information through bluetooth. It does on Toyotas and Subarus.

On my car there are two different ways of pairing the device with Bluetooth, and I'm not certain, but I think it will show the information either way. You might want to check your car's manual. Hopefully it's not as confusing as the one for my car!

I need to try my iPod 5 for that. My car shows the words when using BT on the S4.
