Lock Screen Locks Up

Anyone else have this issue? My Eris' lock screen...well, locks up. So meta, right?

It does this maybe once a day and the only way to unlock the lock screen is... you can't. I have to pull the battery out and put it back in, then wait the entire three minutes it takes to restart.

EDIT: Sometimes it doesn't lock, but I can't pull down the unlock all the way. It sits there near the bottom of the screen and I can kind of move it around, but I can't pull it all the way down.

This is unbearably frustrating because I use the cardio program to track all my fitness. If it locks up in the middle of a workout, I can't save or see my progress. Obviously, I can't make a guess as to the distance I've traveled because I'm training for a marathon and I need exact numbers.

This is not to mention god knows what kind of screw-ups might result from so many restarts and forced shut down by pulling out the battery.

my attempt to fix this would be to make sure i have no programs running (they could have locked up...can happen) using...yeah, advance task manager (or any task manager).
then after verifying no apps are running i would lock it and try to unlock it. if it didnt swipe down i would hit the menu button until it registers. if it doesnt work at that point...im extreme so i would reflash my phone. you may want to hard reset after a battery pull. worst case scenario you`ll have to re-install the rom (u know how to do that? read the forums its there).

I would take a different approach than Aleis...

Return it. You are still under your warranty period. I had an issue in the past that would happen once in a while. I figured it wouldn't happen when I take it to the Verizon store, so i recorded it with my wifes phone.
Once they saw the video, they immediately gave me a new phone. No questions asked.
Give that a try.

It's completely random. I un/lock my phone dozens of times daily, but it just locks up sometimes.

Are you running stock 1.5, 2.1 or root?
Is it doing it only when your cardio program is running?
Does it do this with any other app?
Does it do it when zero apps are running?
After you wake the phone up, does the menu button work to unlock it?
How long have you had the phone?

Good call... maybe I can convince them to move up my upgrade so I can get an Incredible instead.

Random question: Does this occur while it is plugged in to the charger more often than not?

I've had this happen to me once when I was on 1.5. I was able to turn the phone "on" but wasn't able to slide the lock screen and unlock it. Never happened again after I took out the battery to restart it.
