This may be stating the obvious but I want to warn everyone to be very careful and avoid letting this phone get wet. It has a very low tolerance for moisture.

I was stuck walking in a rain storm last Monday night. I had my phone in a jacket pocket zipped up. The jacket is partially rain proof, but this was a gully washer. When I got home, at first it did not look like the phone had gotten wet. No obvious water. But the outside was damp.

But, when I awakened it, it was obvious. It was going crazy. I turned it off. Before I could get the cover off, it started humming. It felt like I was getting a mild shock.

I took the battery out and let it dry for 7 hours. I need a phone for work so I did not have time to put it in the rice. 6 people have told me that this works miracles.

Anyway, the aftereffects:

A few transparent streaks and spots on the screen that seem to be getting lighter each day. This is mostly around the edges with a few smudges on the face. The worst area is at the bottom left but it has gotten dramatically better too. This is the most visible with a white background.

The screen flickers sometimes. I realized yesterday that this is only when I use the Auto Brightness setting. So apparently that is somewhat fried.

Everything else works fine.

Going to try some Mahatma on it tonight and take it back to Radio Shack on Sunday, unless it is raining. I bought it on July 10th. Less than 30 days. I am hoping they will swap it out.

I unlocked the bootloader under ICS but I ran the JB OTA, so I assume it is relocked. I have read that it will still show that it has been tampered

I doubt the local guy will check that. He has swapped out other stuff for me before. Hope he will this time.

I used my Prevail for over 2 Years. Me and that phone have been in all kinds of weather and temperature extremes. The Prevail is still good as new. It has gotten much wetter than my One SV with no problems.

Now I carry a zip lock bag. We had the storm of the year yesterday and many parts of town flooded. I got soaked again but the phone stayed dry.

Gotta get a water proof jacket...

Wy. Don't we wish they made all phones as tough as they made the Prevail. Bro, the one I sold my buddy has literally been through hell. The 1st month he had it, he called me up and said he had broken the screen due to slamming it in his trunk not once but twice. Lmao he should have looked the 1st time when it did t shut but nooooo..... he lifted and slammed it again. Well, he let's me know he's broken the screen when I see him at school. I look at the phone and start Lmao. He hasn't broken the phone at all. He just pulled the screen protector off the edge to the point where it looks like the screen had broken.

That phone is the phone that could bro. I've heard so many stories about its toughness over the years since joining the forum.

Sad to hear about you SV bro. Radio Shack will definitely take the phone back. Just tell then it's not acting right and you want to try another one. Either that or get another phone all together . Lol

The S3 for sure bro. ;)

That SUMBEECH is expensive thoiugh!

Went and got the S3 after work. Awesome! No problem swapping it out. Other than paying another$129! Ramon noodle budget, lol. But what the heck.

Radio shack had no problem.they even printed out my old receipt since I could not find mine. They do require the packaging from the One SV.

The screen had almost completely cleared up over the last week .Even more after the rice. The radio kept losing signal more than it had before, though

Radio Shack guy did look at the battery and under it. He did not ask any questions except why I was switching.

I told him that I was used to Samsung which is true and that I don't like some of the HTC bloat, which is true. He asked if it had to do with the Hotspot, which it really doesn't. He said it was locked out on the S3 too. But worked on the S2

I really enjoyed the SV, and I will read the forum still , just like I read the Prevail forums.

Thanks to everybody for all the help.
