Build Quality Moto Maxx vs. X

Looking at these two phones, both with 4.2.2, both with dual cores, both, well both looking quite the same are separated by battery and build quality.

I see both battery and build quality as wins for the Maxx or if you prefer to match price better Ultra, although I'm not crazy about the polished Kevlar like I am the Maxx's Kevlar.

The X looks like similar to my Gnex, kind of plasticy and soft.

Thoughts?

Something I really didn't like about the Moto X was the on screen nav keys. It looks just like the GNex. The one thing I didn't like about it.

As far as build quality, I'm sure they'll all rock. I played with my mom's Droid RAZR and I really liked the heft and feel of it. Nice phone. The glossy on the Ultra didn't bother me but I did prefer the matte finish of the Maxx.

I'm *dying* to see the 720p rgb screen at 5". I really hope it blows me away. I know I love the pentile 720p on the GNex. Hopefully that extra .35" will be compensated by true rgb.

One of the cool features of the new DROID phones features water resistant nano-technology. Is anybody familiar with the nano-technology being used by Motorola for the DROIDS.

I'm just curious as to how water resistant these things will be using the scale below.

a) small drops of water
b) water glass tipped on phone
c) bus drives through puddle, splashes wave on phone while texting
d) texting when sudden torrential rainfall happens
e) dropped phone in shallow puddle
f) pushed into a pool while talking spent two seconds under 2' of water
g) phone drops to bottom of 8' pool, takes several minutes to recover
h) Jacques Cousteau could have used the phone to text Flipper

My razr maxx hd had the nano coating as well. I would guess A-D possibly E.

My Droid Razar fell out of my pack and into a pond. It was under water for about 20-30 seconds. It was flaky for a day while drying out. Since then (over a month ago) everything works fine except the camera, which won't initialize.

They're not just separated by build "quality", there's a big difference in screen size. The Droids are 5" 720p vs the X's 4.7" 720p. Some PPI-chasers might complain at less sharp text on the Droids.

I haven't seen an X in person, but have had the Maxx since day 1. It seems well-built, with no obvious flaws or defects. Feels good in the hand weight-wise, but even though it's "soft-touch"-ish kevlar backed, it feels very slippery to me. I'm really nervous about dropping this thing because of it. I've got an HTC One and a Note 2, neither of which feels so slippery...

My job is in heavy construction/excavation. I am always in dirt, water and dust. My og RAZR fell into mud and water and bounced off of concrete more times than I care to admit. The screen was cracked, and it still worked right up until yesterday when I upgraded to the Maxx. The Maxx feels more solid than my RAZR was, I have high hopes that it is even more rugged...
