Sending phone back to HTC for repair

What are people's experiences with sending your phone back to HTC (UK) for repair?

This is the first time I've done this (dropped my One X on the floor last Wednesday: screen completely smashed to bits, though the LCD and touch sensor still worked), and I've not been impressed so far.

UPS picked my phone up on Thursday, and it was delivered to the repair company in Huntingdon early Friday morning. I know the weekend was in the way, but I still haven't even been told how much the repair is likely to cost (I have a figure in mind already, but no work will start without me accepting and paying the quote).

I keep phoning to see what the progress is, but all I get is a disinterested call centre guy telling me keep checking my email (as if I'm not already!).

*Sigh*

Oh well...I'll just have to suffer my old painfully slow backup phone for now (HTC Desire).

Those were the sorts of figures I had in mind from hunting around the internet. I'd also heard of the 5 working days, too (possibly even from one of the disinterested call centre people).

Then it comes down to when you start the clock - it was received around 8.30 on Friday morning (according to UPS). If you count that as a working day, we're already into working day three, and I've yet to receive my quote.

I've just to got to wait and see, but the suspense is killing me!

Mine had the WiFi issue. Went through the HTC returns process smoothly - all fixed, and came back in a nice box. No complaints!

HTC warranties normally last 2 years so it might be worth giving them a call.

At least your repair wasn't too far off what you were expecting anyway.

Let us know when you get it back. Thank fully you're not sending to Orange, they took 18 days to send me mine back.

I only had/have a 1 year warranty with my cdma evo 3d which needs repairs lol

That's cool, I had no idea the warranty was for 2 years. Most devices only last 18 months on average!

I did a bit of digging and the 2 year warranty is an EU standard, not HTC by the looks of things.

Well, my wife tells me that UPS have just dropped my repaired phone off at home (shame they didn't sent it to my work - from where they collected it originally!).

Assuming all is well (will have to wait until I get home to test it), the HTC repair place had my phone for a grand total of 5 working days. UPS have had it since Friday. Annoyingly there were 2 weekends between me sending the phone off and it being delivered back today, so in real time it's been 11 days without my One X.

Once they received the payment, the repair didn't seem to take that long (I paid online on the Wednesday, and it was ready for collection having been repaired by the end of Thursday), but it did seem to take them a while to assess the damage and get the quote to me beforehand (3 full working days).

Not sure how that compares to other places like network providers (other option would have been to go through O2).

Like I mentioned, 18 days for me with Orange.

Although when I paid for Orange Care the first time mine was broken, I called at 3PM and I had a replacement by 1PM the next day.

Glad yours is back anyway.

2 years is something the EU enforces and forces manufacturers to honor, which honestly makes me a bit jealous as we usually only get a year over in the states unless we purchase an extended warranty or a warranty from the carriers.
