My Evo's screen has a dead zone right in the middle of the screen starting 2 days ago. the picture attached shows that no touches are being recognized in about a 1/2 inch horizontal bar. I'm running the newest Angry bean. any help would be appreciated. (hopefully not a new digitizer but i gotta do what i gotta do to fix it.):D Screenshot_2013-08-05-17-50-05.png

If its old do the repairs yourself.

if its semi-new just get a replacement from VM phone support.
To check for a bad digitizer turn on "show screen touches" in your advanced options i believe.

If you see ghost touches when your not touching that part of the screen then its the digitizer i believe.

If you request a replacement for virgin mobile they will usually give you one without budging! It's so true it's ridiculous. People took advantage of it though and it started turning into fraud. (Shouldn't be on AF.) :D
Even if it's over a year old? I'd rather get a replacement than take the phone under the knife :D

i do not see any ghost touches, but when i touch the bad part of the screen it shows a touch on the top and bottom of the bar.

awe dang okay any good replacement parts to buy then?

1-The cheapest would be buy the digitizer which is like $16, but its also THE HARDEST to install and most likely to kill the LCD in some way.

2-The most expensive BUT SUPER EASY is the buy the LCD+Frame which includes a new whole front end of the phone. You just transfer your speaker, motherboard, cables, etc over which cost $40 i believe.

I recommend #2 and i did #2 to my phone and im a noob with no problems. I only did #2 but when i did #1 i broke my LCD lol.

#2 parts are below and will fix your phone back to factory like!

Before you go buying any parts, I would try a differernt ROM. I have noticed the exact same problem with my new replacement after two weeks of running the 7/17 build of Angry Bean. I also just read another post in the All Things Root subforum with what sounds like a similar issue. My dead zone is along the very bottom of the screen...very annoying.

I do not have time right now but tomorrow I will try another rom, maybe pacman. :D and report back

Edit: Update- I changed to the stock sense rom and there are no more dead zones on the screen. So it is most likely the rom.

Doe's that rom include pie control? I get the same issue with PACMan unless I disabled the pie control. :D
OB
No the Angry bean rom does not include pi control, but after a day of use the dead zone problem has happened again. Although, now instead of part of screen being unresponsive all of the time, it happens randomly and will sometimes fix itself. So switching roms did not entirely fix the problem making it most likely a hardware issue.

Did you make sure to wipe everything when swapping ROMs? Mine is completely random as well and also fixes itself. I am still running Angry Bean.

Yes I did do a complete wipe deleting everything. But now the screen is working perfectly most of the time. I can manage the once in a while screen issues so i think i will keep it the way it is. I am running dirty unicorns
