Okay- so how many of you out there still use their Triumph as their primary phone?

I still use my Triumph only because I can't afford to buy a new phone. And even if I could, I'll use the Triumph until it dies anyway- I'm not a slave to "gotta have the latest phone" game..... for most people it's more about fashion, not function (especially iPhone users).
I am hoping that eventually the upcoming Moto X will make it to VM-does anyone think that'll ever happen?

Mine is still running smoothly. Except for the .alog buildup, I haven't had any of the problems others have had, and I bought mine day one. I was just commenting how I've had it for two years without any problems. My friend just picked up the S3 for VM and it's a really nice phone, but until 4G is built up and the S3 comes down in price, I'll be sticking with my Triumph. Plus, once I upgrade, I'll pass the Triumph to my father so we can keep the $25 plan.

Still have the two for me and the wife, two years next month. Mine just did another spontaneous reboot that made it come up with the Welcome Android, had to factory reset and setup again. Wife's phone rebooted a dozen times over the course of a few hours today. Getting tired of both phones acting up, locking up and needing the battery yanked, etc. So I've started looking at options, the S2 is looking pretty good right now.

The Triumph days are numbered, going to miss the $25 plans.

Echoes Sandcrest, bought mine 2nd day it was out and while it has charge port and alog file issues the workarounds have been no brainers. Forget about 'em.
I keep mine in a padded vinyl case I made, keeps it pretty clean. It does the job and while I'd love a newer phone the end of every month seems to see me about a paycheck from pushing a shopping cart for a home so I cannot justify a $400 outlay.

(When it dies I may switch to Ting just so I can get an HTC One, IF I can come up with the funds. If not the S2 is tempting at $200 now)

I think I do like to brag to my friends about having an android phone on a $25/mo plan. Nobody else is close.

One thing I noticed was Virgin has a deal on any of the iphones for $5 off a month. So $30 plan. Hmm....I just can't bring myself into joining the Apple slave gang. Apps, media, etc, all seem to have a big money hook.

I totally admire the iPhone as a device.

But I can't stand the "me too" mindset of most iPhone owners.

And the fact that I have to pay 99 cents for an app on my daughter's iPod that I get for free on the Google Play store- why? I love the fact that Google gives me the tools to make my phone better, but Apple only wants to sell you things.

If Apple were to ever loosen the tight reigns over their devices, I'd love to buy one. But I won't be a slave, and I don't want to have to jailbreak a device to get the most out of it either.

My friend has an apple laptop and an iphone. I went into the apple app store for the first time the other day and noticed that. Nice apps but expensive and many that were free at the google store.

I'm hoping that VM will get a version of the Moto X. Of course, if it does, it'll be at least a year from now.
Hmmm.... the Motorola site still has the offer to give you $100 if you trade in your old Moto for a new one, I wonder if that's still valid.

I'm actually a brand new user that just bought a new Motorola Triumph last month. Not that there was anything wrong with my trusty old LG Rumor Touch, but watching prices go down on the Triumph and it being one of the few decent phones I can keep my $25 Virgin Mobile plan with, I couldn't pass it up. So I'm expecting a few good years out of it at least.

So have you noticed any difference in the Triumph's abilities as a phone, particularly using the speakerphone feature?
I went from the RT to the MT when the Triumph launched and that's one thing I noticed right off- the RT worked great as a phone, you could carry on a conversation just fine on speakerphone, even in a car going down the freeway with the windows down.
The Triumph, forget it. Every time I tried to use the speakerphone even the slightest background noise cuts out the caller, and when I speak the caller says it sounds like I'm in a tin can.
You'd think the one thing they could have got right was to make it work as a phone.

I rarely use the speakerphone, but so far, it's been as good as the RT. Even though I'm in a big city, reception for both phones can be spotty inside my house, but that's a Virgin Mobile issue, not the phone. My husband's phone has no problems at all. There's an area in Wisconsin I frequent that I need to walk 1/2 mile to a clear open field before I can use my phone, his phone on Cricket again has no problems.

I do miss the insanely long battery life of the Rumor Touch though . But otherwise the MT has been great, a lot of fun to customize as well, especially when you had to jump through hoops just to get your own ringtones on the Rumor Touch.

I was on the bus going to work the oher day, and a guy sitting across from me had a Triumph. I told him about this site, about rooting, ROMs,etc. I had to get off the bus before I could get into tethering, bloatware, and most importantly for using a Triumph on a bus- getting rid of the embarassing boot animation (announcing to the entire bus that you're on Virgin Mobile LOL).
Hopefully he checked in here.
BTW- he was using his Triumph without a case or cover..... he must spend a lot of time picking up his battery cover off the floor.

I remember when I had the Moto Triumph 2 years ago... upgraded to a HTC Evo 3D then left VM all together and got a nice Galaxy Nexus.

Will never forget moto triumph as my first good smartphone

That's the reason I always used a case on my Triumph.

I don't use a case on my new T-Mobile Optimus L9, which is everything I had wished the Triumph had been: It has no issues and works great, though I did root it and install Link2SD to make more room for apps, though it wasn't really necessary in my situation since I mostly have small apps installed (no big games).

It also has a bigger screen while being barely taller and about the same width as the Triumph, and it's noticeably thinner and lighter.

Since I got the new phone, I rarely use my 7" Samsung tablet, which I used to use more often when I was on the Triumph, since the Triumph was not very pleasant to use due to all its shortcomings; especially its non-responsive touchscreen and slowness.

I always keep some sort of cover/case on my phones including a screen protector because I just like to keep them as pristine and scratch-free as possible. But before I got the cover for the Triumph, I had to admit that the battery cover is really a snug tight fit... I can't see it ever coming loose on it's own during the time I used it without a cover. I'm sometimes worried that I'm pressing too hard to slide it in and out of position on the phone when I need to pull the battery for a reset.

Since I installed LauncherPro and adjusted some settings, I couldn't be happier with the responsiveness and speed of the touch screen, it's very smooth and fast for me. I tried all the other major launchers (Go, Smart, ADW, etc), and while a few might have been a bit prettier, they all were sluggish and sometimes totally unresponsive compared to LauncherPro.

I've been very happy with the Triumph so far.

My triumph cover used to fall off in my pocket all the time before I got a cover (I got a cover quickly after I got the Triumph because of that). The screens on these phones are pretty scratch resistant (Triumph and T-Mobile Optimus L9), so if you carry them in a pocket that has no sharp objects, like I do, they stay essentially scratch free without a protector. And the rest of my L9 also looks unscratched so far, and it has a good "feel" without a case.

I'm no longer with the Triumph as I moved to the N4 on T-Mobile. But I had the phone for two years when I switched and the performance was just unbearable. I've tried almost every ROM since there even were ROMs for the MT. I think that the MT suffers from a similar problem that the N7 (any many other devices) has where the flash memory degrades. At least I think since mine just got super slow no matter what ROM I ran. Either way it lasted a long time for a first Android phone and I'm happy to move on to the N4.
