so....i'm just about done with these phones. Doesn't even seem fun anymore.

If I had the opportunity to buy a cell phone from back in 1995, I would right now.

All the ping'ing...telling the world where we're at all the time...even when GPS is off. All the secret apps our spouses could install on our phones without us knowing...to send them duplicates of all our text messages...who were calling, etc... and even not being able to tell if someone installed that on our phones.

I'm just tired of it all...seriously. Gives me a headaches, and I just want peace of mind happyness again. Even the internet in general just sucks.

no wonder people keep their cell phones attached to their hip these days...practically like another part of their body.

How can we tell if a spouse installed a secret app on our phone...that's sending duplicates of all our texts to them ? I heard the paid version hides everything...and makes it very hard to discover.

take me back to 1995....no texts..no smart phones...no constant pinging every second...none of that crap.

.

er... your 1995 dumbphone will leak its location...

.

hmm... sounds like you have more of a problem with your spouse than your phone... and of course those dumbphones could be bugged as well

Having a modern day smartphone is a choice. You are not required to have one. If you don't want one, don't own one. It will certainly save on your monthly utilities bill to not be paying for one.

Many people find these phones to make our lives easier and don't believe all the FUD (fear, uncertainty and doubt) and hype about how intrusive they are. With a little bit of knowledge, some of us have used these phones to make our lives fuller and more social.

It seems to me that everybody I talk to that wants to go back to dumb phones because these smartphones are going to call in a drone to attack them are a bunch of drama queens. Get over yourselves...nobody gives a s*** about what you post on Facebook or Twitter.

It's actually pretty difficult to install an app onto a phone without the user being aware of it. Unless the perp has physical access to the phone of course, but then that's a basic Security 101 fail.

Marketplace > Install App

not so difficult.

and most people don't have security functions enabled because of it's own nuisances....(having to enter a pin every time just to check a txt message...etc, etc)

I can honestly say that my life isnt interesting enough for me to worry one tiny bit about anyone snooping. Im not a "smart freak" but im not gullible. I just use my tinfoil for cooking chicken ;)
I do know exactly whats on my phone though. If youre paranoid then maybe it would be better to educate yourself on the tech' instead of hiding from it

Sell your smart phone and put your sim in a dumb phone lol problem solved. Think youre in a minority here :D
P.s you could just turn off internet access

How can you tell if you have really turned that off? If the government can turn the phone on, turn the cameras on, or turn the microphone on without your knowing, how can you rely on the phone to retain your privacy?

Marketplace > Install App

not so difficult.

The big fat pop-up in your notification bar announcing that "<appname> has been installed" is a bit of a giveaway, though. Not to mention that the perp would need your Google account credentials (username & password> in order to log-in as you to install an app on your handset. ;)

Remove the Access Point Name and the phone just cant connect to the internet

Honestly, since I'm not doing anything wrong, i couldn't care less if they know what i had for lunch or where.

Heck if they were spying on me that hard I'd be calling them all the time and asking them about stuff I lost.

LMAO exactly... it would be great.. plus if i had an emergency or anything they would have the police, ambulance there asap! :D

I once read this old proverb were basically it said only those with something to hide resent supervision... do you have texts you don't want your spouse seeing? :p

I got this......

(No fee required. You're welcome)

PROJECTION
A psychoanalytical theory, projection is the process whereby one subject believes they see attributes (both good and bad) in another. The theory views this tendency as a defense mechanism whereby unenviable or unpleasant traits, impulses or ideas are attributed to another. In this way, the projector is able to avoid the unpleasantness in themselves. However, the theory goes on to explain that in severe cases of projection, the condition of projection may degenerate into paranoid delusions to the point that the projector believes others are responsible for the projector's problems and are secretly plotting against them. The projection basically allows a subject to ignore faults within themselves.
