Fresh 2.0d PRI????

I asked this question when Fresh2.0d came out and I flashed it. Here the response I got from another member:

"A lot of people are asking abought the flipz-01 PRI.

So it got me to thinking.

If you go back to a different Rom the PRI stays Flipz-01.The other Roms work fine with the Flipz-01 PRI. Market shows protected apps and all. (If the ROM's Market did with the Sprint PRI that is.) Lockscreen says Sprint.

There is no need to do this so don't get all freaked out thinking you need to do this but If you don't want it to say Flipz-01 do a nandroid back up. Then put a 1.5 rom on and do the PRI reset with ##786# and msl. Use a 1.5 Rom if changing the PRI if not it could cut off your radio until you update your profile on a 1.5 ROM Let it update and then restore the Fresh 2.0d from the back up and it will no longer show Flipz-01.

Again this is not needed but a lot of people where asking abought it so I thought I would see for myself. What would happen. Like Flipz said it was to help with the PRI problem people where having coming from a ported Rom and just cut out the PRI reset steps for you if you needed it.

Anyway hope this helps answer the PRI questions. There is no need to update or change the Flipz-01 PRI it will work on any ROM"

PRI matters a lot to me. The stock 1.70_003 does not allow for USB Internet Sharing (errors at 67) but PRI 2.11 does allow it and that is what I am running.

yeah... and in this case.. PRI Flipz_01 allows USB Internet sharing.

Interesting, I wonder how he made that magic happen. Have you confirmed that it actually connects without error (takes a couple minutes) and starts feeding the internet? I could never get it to work, would always error out.

I've never had a need to use USB Internet sharing.. Sooooooo... I disconnected the Network cable from my work laptop.. then disabled the built in wireless. connected my Hero.. selected USB Internet sharing.. and am using it now to post this reply.

so yes.. it does work..

note: Laptop is running Win XP. I have not tried it on Win7, Vista or Linux. Although as long as the drivers are working correctly, then it should work on those platforms as well

I understand that flipz change the PRI with the best of intentions - to help out those who flashed the ERIS ROM previously. It is still a pain in the ass if you want to return your Hero phone to its factory state (to sell, return, whatever). You have to either call Sprint for your MSL, or flash the 2.1 RUU and then reroot, etc, etc. to get rid of the "flipz" PRI.

Technical question: since flashing with the Sprint 1.56 RUU does not remove the PRI info, where does it reside?
