Newegg Link for anyone wanting a print out.
DROID MAXX by MOTOROLA for Verizon Wireless - Newegg.com Wireless Store

I think we all should have waited till BB had them in stock before hounding them for price matches. Hopefully they will send out some emails this week saying they have them in stock.

Newegg looks to be the same as Wirefly and Radioshack, going through a 3rd party called Simplexity.

I got mine for essentially $199 right from Verizon. Here's how. Motorola has a trade in program wherein if you bring a specified Motorola device to the Verizon store, they give you a $100 gift card with purchase of the Maxx. So I bought one of the listed phones on eBay for $10 and used that for the trade-in. Worked like a charm!

Here's the link to the Motorola program: http://www.mototradeup.com/

Thanks for this info! I had to work at it a bit but I ordered mine today from my regular store which was out of stock. I got the same $100 off!

The official name of the promo is "Motorola $100 device recycle promo", or close to that. The store knew nothing about it. The manager called his boss then his moto rep, who gave him the correct code. They put the promo code into vzw's regular trade in program that isn't very good. The 2 trade in phones are droid3 and X2 to get the $100 when you buy one of the razors or one of the new droids.

It was worth the effort to get the store personnel up to speed.

So, thanks davpel!

Hmm.... So I checked Newegg to see the status of my order just now, and it isn't there! I'll have to wait till I get home and get the order number from the confirmation email I got from them and try to look it up that way. They have my previous orders from earlier in the year, but not the Maxx.

Also, it looks like it's up to $229 now.

OK, false alarm, I guess the "wireless store" is separate from the regular Newegg. I found it. Still no ship date, though.

And it is $229 for new orders.

alot of verizon phones are qualifying for 30% off with promo code VERIZON30. the promo code box wasnt popping up while i was trying to order it online through verizon so i called verizon to check on it. the person i talked to said that promo code cant be used until Sept 3 which just so happens to be the day online vzw orders are supposed to ship. so assuming 3rd party orders havent shipped by then, you may be able to get almost the same price by using this promo at that time and choosing to pick it up in store.

I would go for this on the third but Im leaving the country for two weeks on that day. I wonder how long the promo will last?

This is really trying my patience. Are any of you going to jump ship and get the Moto X on Verizon? Or is the Maxx worth the wait?

Well, I could walk into a corporate store and buy one right now if I get THAT impatient. X is still mail-order only.

I'm going to wait till 9-3. If I don't have a ship date from New egg by then, well, we'll see.... ;)

People are different.

I think they are both now in your Verizon Corporate store. Both are VERY nice.

I suggest you go handle them both and I bet the instant you pick the one up that is best for you you will know it.

The one you pick for you might not be the one I picked for me.

The OP was about paying $199 as opposed to $299 not really about the wait. I paid 299 for the gnex the day it came out I paid 299 for the razr maxx hd soon after it came out and I dont want to pay 299 again for the newest flagship.
I think since motorola is pushing the x and there doesnt seem to be huge interest in the maxx, 199 is a legit price for a great phone. yes I'll wait no big deal ive got a great phone right now.

Anyone else think it is a bit ridiculous that those of us that pre-ordered (Aug 11 for me) still don't have a phone in our hands while verizon has units sitting on thier shelves.

We may have ordered 3rd party, but that still doesn't seem right.

Moto, I've been a loyal customer and bought phones on release day though 3rd parties... why this time have you not decided to ship to them?

Frustrated.
