Finally got round to converting my wipe scripts over to the GS4.
Kernel wipe is very basic (as I don't know of any GS4 kernel-specific files/folders as yet) but the rest are pretty much as per the GS2 (apart from ROM-specific file/folder removal)

All scripts are Beta, so expect a few niggles and bugs, and as always, I recommend a CWM backup beforehand.

And for Android Forum members only, I've combined all the latest scripts into a single zip.
This would of course require you copying the bundled zip onto your PC, unzip it (eg. use 7Zip), and copy the scripts you require to your GS4.

My latest GS4 Wipe Scripts bundle

Well, I am happy to report that I have used Hawker's KernelWipe, MediaWipe and ROMClean and I can confirm that they are working flawlessly on my GT-i9505 running DjeMBeY's Modified ROM.

Haven't had a chance, or cause, to use his ROMNuke, ROMWipe and ROMReset scripts yet as I have not needed to change ROM's as this seems to be the lull before the storm when the Android 4.3 stock ROM's will be released.

Anyone who is into ROM flashing or modding should really have these on their SD cards as they provide 6 small scripts that are run in Recovery Mode under, "Install zip", and do a great job of cleaning things up prior to flashing and help prevent a lot of problems that you see on the forum, due to poor flashes.

I always would recommend doing a nandroid backup prior to any of their uses.

Much as it hurts me to say this... they are blooming well useful to anyone on this forum...

Furthermore... (stand by your beds with smelling salts folks), I have made a donation to the old fella, using the donate button in his xda forum thread, here. :ahhhhh:

Confirmation number: 0RW39786JS660570Y

Hopefully I'll get it back when he buys me a beer this Christmas!

Thanks Hawker, they'll come in handy, that is when I get around to rooting my new "holy one" (funny sense of humour wifes sometimes  ):)

Right I've had my S4 (GT-I9505) exactly 21 hours and ten minutes, it's rooting time - seems like a doddle.:)

It's good to see yourself, Ironass (who is still as charming as ever) and Syd again. Seriously you three helped me enormously in my SGSII days, it feels like I've come home.

Dunno why the dev can't put all the latest versions in one, giant, economy. downloadable .zip file as they are all usually updated at the same time and saves 7 different d/l's... moan, grumble, whinge, whine. :motz:

(P.S. I can confirm that the GS4CacheWipeV1.00beta works a treat for doing a bit of spring cleaning on the S4. I would recommend flashing it in Recovery as a first line of attack for anyone on a bootloop)

An excellent idea Ironass.

As some of us know boot loops after flashing something are usually caused by conflicting crud from the old set up. Clearing using Hawker's scripts will clean up the cache and dalvik cache allowing them to be rebuilt correctly once the phone is rebooted. On a reboot, be patient you may have to wait a short while while the caches are rebuilt, you may think your boot loop is still there, usually it isn't and the phone will start.

You would be surprised by the variation of download counts between the scripts butty. For example, kernel wipe and rom nuke are streets ahead of all the others (even though at the moment on the S4, a kernel wipe hardly does anything at all)

If I did bundle all zips into a single zip this would mean:

1. I would have to explain to everyone to download and install 7zip and how to unbundle it to get the separate scripts, and then put onto their devices.
2. I would repeatedly get pms complaining that the bundled zip was attempted to be flashed on the device, and it didnt work (oddly enough)

Even if I make all this clear in the OP I would still no doubt have to tolerate point (2.) considering the near 40,000 downloads up to now (S2+S4)

As these are still betas, I decided after updating the central shell script that all the zips use, to put this in all the zips regardless, even though this particular change only affected rom nuke and rom reset. Given time, after letting the scripts bed in and I am satisfied with them, I will take them off beta and just update the individual zips that are affected with a change (as I used to on the S2). This would make 90% of a bundled download redundant.

I shall however consider a bundle package via pm to a select few in the future however. ;)

Ironass could be your PA and reply to these on your behalf
If he gets time in between chasing a lump of cheese down steep Gloucestershire hills that is of course!

Yes please!!:adore:
No worries, I shall make it exclusively for AF.
;)

(Sod the PM idea. See OP)

I now know how the great Leonardo da Vinci must have felt after his designs for a flying machine.

1. I put forward a perfectly reasonable idea to save multiple downloads and also ensure that users always have the latest versions of the dev's scripts. See post #13.

2. There are then those who are far sighted enough to welcome this idea. See post #14.

3. I am also met with opposition and detailed cries of, "It will never work!" See post #15.

4. Not to mention the ridicule from the great, unwashed, masses. See posts #16, #17, #18 and #19.

5. Then there is the dawning realisation and acknowledgement that the original idea was in fact a stroke of pure genius and should be acted upon. See amendment to post #1.

6. I am perfectly willing, on behalf of the dev; to pen a new, detailed, Dummies Guide, wholly and solely for the downloading and installation of the new, "GS4 Wipe Scripts bundle".

However, to precis it... "You may not be qualified to own a, "smart", phone!"

(Written tongue-in-cheek and does not refer to anyone, living, dead, comatose or drunk. ;) )

i think there should be a "thanks to the cheeseroller" message that runs in the scripts when flashed, wotdya reckon hawker??

That just warmed me up!.....

Slight background, heading in holiday to Blackpool in rain with Mrs, her gran and our son(mrs not gran!) Far too much luggage meant I had to takeMy motorbike....I've since found none of myClothing is water proof, including my waterproof clothing! So at reading that suggestion whilst standing at tebay services waiting on a bottle heating whilst dripping wet and freezing cold.....it warmed me up, thank you Sydney.... Hawker, surely now, it's a must! :p
