Help Droid Maxx Bug Reports and Problems

The double text problem is a known bug in Google Now, apparently. You either live with it and wait for Google to fix it, or you don't use Google Now to send texts.

I fixed it, but I'm not overly happy with the solution.

It must be something corrupt in your Google account. I created a whole new Gmail, factory reset the phone, logged in under the new one. Works perfectly.

I did link my old account, but forced it to only sync Gmail and Drive. I've bought dozens of apps I wouldn't have access to otherwise. But... I hate having two accounts on one phone.

Edit. Scratch that. It didn't work. This is making me unhappy. Unless even the partial link to my old account is what screwed it, because it was working.

Edit yet again. It wasn't even the old account. I made yet another Gmail account, factory reset it again, and set it up only with the brand new account. It still doubled the texts.

Hi everyone, first post but semi-long time reader. I've enjoyed my Maxx, but something has happened to me twice that seems like a slight issue (or my stupidity)...

I'm driving in "driving" mode and a text comes in. It connects to my car and asks if I want to hear it (say "listen"), I do, and it works. Then another text comes in immediately, and it doesn't play from my car speakers, it just plays from the phone speakers. After I read the text on the phone and exit out, radio doesn't come back on unless I shut off bluetooth manually. It was like the bluetooth was unable to process consecutive text messages?

I had similar issues with my Gnex using bluetooth in my car. Sometimes it would lock the radio volume down all the way and wouldn't let it turn up without manually turning off and back on bluetooth. I'm not sure why it does that but I can definitely identify with your frustration. Hopefully this does not become an issue with our Maxx.

This was new in 4.1 or 4.2 on my Gnex. I wanted it when it wasn't there, and have used it frequently since then.

I'm in Chrome Beta (for instance), it's goofing up, so from the app, I press my Task Switcher button, the list pops up, Chrome Beta is on the bottom (last app used), I swipe it away, the app closes and I get dumped into my home screen where I can relaunch it, fresh.

With the Maxx, not all the time, when I do this, the current app isn't there. Or sometimes an app I have open and active in the background isn't to be found on the list. Other times an app I was using just one or two apps previously isn't there. It's not happening consistently, but it is happening with regularity.

I'm actually on my second Maxx. On the first one the speaker was totally shot. Certain notifications came through sounding like the old electronic Battleship.

Maxx part two is still not always making a sound when a new text arrives and the green messaging smile face doesn't have the number of new texts next to it. I'm trying really hard to adopt Android and its quirks but this may be more trouble than its worth.

My iphone 5 had more glitches than my 4 but it still seemed more reliable than the Maxx. Receiving notifications on a cell phone is pretty standard stuff. I can live without being able to forward calendar invites but text messaging?

I have the Droid Maxx and it has shut off/powered off randomly three times already. Once, the battery was fully charged and I was not using the phone. Once the battery was at about 50-55% and I was on a social networking site and this last time I was in the middle of a phone call and the battery was at 30%. Has anyone else had this issue? The last time it shut down on me, when I started it back up it was saying it was formatting the sim card for my new phone???????? I cut it back off because it never came off that screen and when I cut it back on, it's working again.

Not yet but I'm leaning that way. I love the long battery life but it does me no good if the thing doesn't stay on. I was thinking of going to the Razr Maxx HD but Verizon doesn't sell that anymore. Was also considering the Galaxy S4

I was unclear. I suggest you go to the Verizon store, report your problem, and have them replace it (with another Maxx).

I can't text any size video. Is there a setting I need to change?

Texting video is weird. The only way I've succesfully done it is to go into the message app. Pick the person you want to send it to. Click on the paper clip at the top. Then "capture video." Then record what you want to send. Then send it.

Sending stuff you've already captured never works for me.

Here's a solution. When you take a video click share then save it to Drive. Then you can attach that to any SMS that you want.

I recognize that this seems ridiculous to have to do for video sharing but it's probably more efficient in the long run. It takes longer to send a video MMS but if you upload it you can send it out much more quickly to as many people as you want to.

Odd thing happened battery was at 38% at 2 days 4hours I started looking at some of the music albums I had and the low battery warning came on. Battery went down to 3% in less then a minute and went to zero about five minutes after that. Its like it just hit a wall and went strait down while just watching the battery progress. It's now charging up from zero.

I'm not a particular fan of this sort of methodology. It seems like just another way for them to secretly own something you did. Looks like I'll just have to capture videos through the messaging at first, if I plan to share them out.

When creating new battery stats that can happen. Run through the battery a couple of times and you should be good.

At 19% my phone shut down completely and would not charge or cut back on. Finally got it to charge and cut on. I took it to Verizon and was offered a refurb?? The phone was 9 days old....I returned the Maxx and switched to a Galaxy S4. I probably just got a "bad" phone on the Maxx but certainly didn't was a refurb after paying full retail price for the phone.
