So far I have removed rhapsody, the app shop, and one other thing that I forget at the moment. No ill effects so far.

What have your removed. If this gets big enough then I will properly list all programs and and it's effect.

Nothing.
Not taking any chances of hosing the phone by removing system apps, so I either disabled them if the option was available in app settings or froze them with Titanium Backup if it wasn't.

No, it doesn't save any space because the apps are still there. It's just a safer method vs. deleting them outright, since removing system apps can potentially cause problems. I'm using Link2SD to save space on internal storage by moving other apps to the SD card.

I just use appquarantine t freeze the unwanted apps . i also use link2sd, which does seem to work very well . use it on all my backup phones and tablets .
The weird thing is that a few apps are able to be moved to the sdcard from the app manager directly . So, app2sd is supported by the kernal but somehow allowed to a very specific few apps . Perhaps we could find somone who knows how to alter the kernal and open up app2sd for all apps ? I dont know near enough to try that . lol

Kernel yes, but that's what links2sd is for. It just fools apps into thinking the data is there when their data is actually symbolically linked to the sdcard's 2nd ext2 partition. So technically false.

I deleted a good bit of stock system apps from the Virgin Mobile model, but I've found that the phone won't allow me to do certain things with image sharing because I got rid of the stock gallery in an attempt to free up more space. Thought I should mention that, been looking around to see if anyone put a copy of it somewhere.

Here's my list of safe-to-disable, followed by safe-to-remove (root required), if others can add their experience, then we compile a complete list for squeezing a bit more space out of the internal ROM, and lower active RAM use.

BTW I noticed 'music' is needed to set custom ringtone & notification sounds from an audio file.

But.... I even froze the wrong app on a "be-gone" LG Regard, and had to install MS firmware (thanks to sammyz) cause Cricket do not provide Stock restore .....

All I froze was "Google Books," on the Regard, and bye-bye Stock ROM. Never to boot to Cricket again, but that is a real great thing anyway.

After that fea-as*-co I really really recommend Titanium Backup Pro right before "Root," and do a "backup" with TB Pro before freezing after "Root," even for the devs instructions, so they can help us noobs from freezing / or deleting the wrong things, and filling the boards in "total urgency posts" LOL

- IMO rooting isn't for beginners. I would highly recommend a lot of reading and videos beforehand. There will always be a risk. Rooting it's self voids your warranty.

- With more popular devices you will find much more development and modding. For example Galaxy and Nexus devices.

I kept VideoWiz, as it seemed like a interesting video editing software for android. Could come in handy in the future...
Kept most LG stuff as I loved QuickMemo, and will use all memo stuff. Qslide seems awesome as well and will come in handy.

I believe I removed around 150mb of stuff I will never use. If I want that stuff back for whatever reason, I have the recovery kdz and software so I can revert to full stock (I probably should of used Titanium Backup like I usually do to freeze things, but I kinda derped and went all out. Lucky I didn't break things to bad and was able to fix what I broke, don't try this at home kids.)

Correct ....
You can use TBP in a "LIMITED" way before "root." All I should have stated as .... I install TBP before, rooting, just like I install Rom Manager BEFORE rooting. And I try to get CWM recovery running before rooting, (if there is one available.)

Yep it does "void the warranty" but .... and without a FULL BKUP it is not for "beginners."

But... We "beginners" after doing a FULL BKUP, either via abd commands, before "root," and TBP after "root." should not touch their devices until CWM recovery for their perspective devices are modded. Than as this grand topic, even for us "beginners" is where the fun begins... removing that there "bloat."

As for us who do NOT afford the more "popular devices," we come here, or over at xda or howardforums so we can get the less expensive / "unpopular devices" modded, and "bloat" ware be-gone. We don't like that "bloat-ware, either"

This is because we want our "not so popular devices" running like the "big boys toys." LOL

I'm grabbing a LG F6 before a CWM recovery is perfected fully, and no custom ROMS, made yet. Just a Stock bloated firmware to recover a "soft brick," if I remove to much "stuff.'"

I remember a signature that stated something like.... "we were all beginners at some time!"

If you remove a system app does it affect the factory reset? What I mean is if it breaks something will I still be able to do the factory reset?

As long as you can reboot and get to the Play Store, you should be safe. This means the Play store, launcher, and keyboard are all needed after factory reset. Worst case scenario, plug it into PC and let the LG Mobile Support Tools re-flash complete stock ROM.

EDIT: read this thread... it's integrated into the Settings apk apparently. Yes that's for the Spirit but it's likely the same across LG Android distributions.

MLT !!! LG seems to have included a snooper app "MLT" which per default is enabled, and probably serves purpose to help LG remote support, but it tries to track all your activity and logs GPS position together with the details gathered, and that includes calls, apps starting, removing etc...

Thanks for the heads-up on MLT, I did some reading on it and while it may be either a nefarious snooping app or just an innocuous logger, either way it doesn't appear to be essential for the phone's operation. I froze it and that seems to have freed up some RAM.

MLT may be on the F3, but it doesnt seem to be as bad as on other phones. I removed it also but haven't noticed any gains in speed, or lower RAM or battery use. If anything, Settings -> apps -> running always crashes now. Anyone else confirm?

UPDATE: A reboot fixed the crash.
