It looks like the Galaxy Gear will work with most Galaxy phones (and other Android devices), not just the GN3. But it's pretty exciting to see how the new Galaxy devices will work together with each other. I'm guessing that the Sept 4th show will be how the Note works with the Watch along with the S4.

Qualcomm achieves these enhancements in the QFE1100 by using a technology called Envelope Tracking. Essentially, the hardware tracks changes in the radio frequency and adjusts the power amplifier accordingly. Unlike traditional methods which perpetually run at full power, or those that only adjust the level when the radio is barely active, this technology can limit power usage only to what is necessary at the moment of transmission. ... Qualcomm claims this can reduce radio power consumption by up to 20% and heat production by up to 30%, all while improving the speed and reliability of the cellular signal.

I'm glad I'm not the only one excited about Gear!!! I have been going smart-watch crazy, literally!!! MetaWatch, Pebble, Sony, Agent, Kreyos, HOT, Omate, Neptune Pine, Google acquisition of WiMM, etc... Now waiting for the real deal from Samsung - Gear! Just hope it won't be disappointing with 10hr battery life as some rumors suggesting.

Of course, excited about Note 3 as well. Just have no idea how it will be introduced through carrier this time cause AT&T always gets it first :( while I have to wait for Verizon to catch up...

I'm on Verizon as well, and I fully expect to get the GN3 to released a month after all the other carriers similar to last year.

I'm excited for the gear as well. I hope the watch lasts at least a day on a single charge. I think it's the perfect pair with the GN3 as it's something big to go along with something small. lol I just hope it has S-health and an easy notifications feature.

Ugliest watch I've seen since the 80's.

Don't care if it can make me breakfast, I wouldn't get caught dead wearing that Fisher-Price piece of garbage.

In that picture, yes. On Sept 4th, I have no doubt the real Gear will look a lot better :) From what I'm hearing, Sammy likes to put disguise on their top devices to conceal the real shape/dimensions. This is all a very cleverly designed marketing campaign to generate a buzz :D

It's definitely ugly. The renderings look much better. We can only hope that's just an early production.

With that said, the 10 hour battery life is far more offensive than the appearance of the watch. This watch should have at least 16-24 hours (wide range, I know) of battery life.

Looks like an old casio calculator watch.

Of course its samsung....look at the cheap plastic strap lol

....and if you can't wear a watch from one day to the next its not worth having.

Some brilliant renders have been kicking around but none of them look tough enough to take daily knocks. Sadly this does :( - i certainly won't be getting it! Apple will be peeing themselves laughing haha

I thought it looked like a calculator watch when I first saw it!!. Definitely looks like a 1980's " back in the day" throw back.

Fingers crossed that it isn't the final version

Samsung Gear looks nice, but... It only works with a Note3 and a Note 10.1 2014-edition. So disappointing... Maybe Im worsed to buy Sony then.

The watch will work with the N2, S3, and S4 when Samsung sends an update. The watch itself looks a bit rough around the edges. Not sure if I'd get it though I might just for the hell of it.
