Moto Droid Maxx Cases and Accessories

I got my Diztronic TPU case over the weekend, and I love it!
It is nice and thin you would expect with a TPU case, but it slips on and off easily. The only version they have now is matte black on the sides and back, and has a gloss black "frame" around the screen opening. Overall, it looks very good, and they're only about $10. My only complaint is that it has covered buttons instead of cutouts. The button covers work, but I think pressing the buttons might be easier if they just left cutouts like they have on their previous cases.

I got my Maxx this weekend and the Verizon store sold me the Commuter Otterbox case at the same time.

I didn't get a screen cover. I emailed Otterbox and they stated the Maxx commuter case isn't available yet and mine is a counterfeit .

I purchased it straight from the Verizon store.

Does anyone else know if this could happen?? Is the commuter case available yet???

I've seen it at several at Verizon stores, from what I recall. Some kind of otterbox case, anyway.I doubt Verizon is bootlegging thousands of cases.

It's entirely possible the guy at otterbox confused the droid maxx for the droid RAZR maxx HD or something. I only see the defender case available for the RAZR maxx HD...

I sent Otterbox pictures of my case. They understand what phone I have.
After reviewing the pics they emailed me that it was a counterfeit case.

The Otterbox web site states it isn't available yet.

I resubmitted the pics to the Otterbox fraud web page on their request.

I can't believe Verizon and Otterbox aren't on the same page with this.

I doubt verizon would purposefully have counterfeit cases made. Given the timing of these cases with respect to the launch of the phone, Verizon would have had to allow access to Otterbox to design the case. Counterfeiters woule be unlikely to work through these channels let alone have such access. If it somehow is counterfeit, I'd expect to see a cease and desist very soon. It is indeed baffling, but I'd bet on it being a miscommunication of some sort more than anything else. Did you happen to send them links to it on VZW's page?

I grabbed my maxx on launch day at a vzw corporate store and there were Otterbox defenders in Stock but no commuters. I went back today and was able to grab a black commuter case. What's weird is that the Otterbox website doesn't list this case in black  I have to believe that vzw wouldn't be stocking and selling counterfeit merchandise so there has to be some confusion about availability internally at Otterbox...

Be at peace, bro. From what I researched, like most all of the Droid line of late, since the Razr, the Maxx and kin come with nanocoating.

Yeah, I wouldn't put too much faith in that. My dad lost a Droid Razr M and I lost a Droid Razr HD Maxx to water. My Maxx was dropping into water and was under no more than 10 seconds. I dried it out for a few days and it mostly works, but it's stuck in landscape mode, the GPS doesn't work, and there are other odd things that happen.

So, maybe nano-coating saved it from being a total loss, but still not much use. These phones are definitely not like the Sony phones that are meant to be waterproof.

Obviously, the CSR's at Otter Box are clueless. The black Commuter for the Maxx is real and I'm going to pick one up tonight. I'll let you all know how it looks--doesn't the Otter packaging have a hologram or something?
I just looked at the packaging my commuter came in. It has Motorola Mobility/M4DE/Built for Droid branding and disclaimers printed directly on the packaging, which leads me to think they went directly from the factory to Vzw which is why the Otterbox reps aren't aware they exist yet. Just a guess...
Edit: There is also a hologram if that helps assure anyone

My otterbox Commuter box has the hologram on the box. Bought at VZW this past weekend.

Did anyone get a screen protector with their Droid Maxx Otterbox commuter? I didn't.

Both Otterbox and Verizon web sites advertise this exact part # as including an adhesive screen guard. I went to a 2nd verizon store thinking that I had gotten a customer return. Still no screen guard on their instock commuter cases.

I called Otterbox and like others they said the Droid Maxx commuter case isn't made yet. They said they can't send me parts for a case that doesn't exist.

It was the fact it was missing a screen guard that started my whole adventure of being told my certified Otterbox case from Verizon with a halogram was a fake Otterbox by the Otterbox company.

I just got my otterbox commuter in the mail that I ordered from Verizon site. Mine did not have the screen protector in it either, even though the verizon site specifically said it came with the self-adhesive screen protector. I went into my local verizon store and they use a different database to pull their info from. The one they looked at did not mention the screen protector. They were pretty dumbfounded when I pulled up the site that I ordered off of and it stated the screen protector.

Verizon doesn't know what their own site says about the Otterbox case they are selling. Not to be outdone, Otterbox doesn't even know their case exists in the wild, or at all, for that matter. This is rich.
