I use HDMi to mirror my phone screen on a large screen almost daily for presentations. Will I be able to use HDMI with the Note 3? HDMI is not mentioned anywhere.

I understand that it may require a usb>hdmi adapter but I also think I saw 2 ports on the bottom of the Note 3.

1) What kind of phone are you currently using?
2) What are you currently using to mirror your phone to a larger screen?

Most Samsung phones nowadays are equipped with MHL, which would mean you could either use a microUSB to HDMI (female) adapter w/ any HDMI cable or get a microUSB to HDMI (male) MHL adapter that will plug directly into the TV's HDMI port. This works for the Note 2. It would be extermely surprising if it did not work for the Note 3.

I have a Bionic and use a micro hdmi to hdmi cable. I'm a Google Glass Explorer and screencast to the phone which is shown on a large screen at meetups and my Hackathon on the 28th. This functionality is critically important.

I see. I don't believe the microHDMI fits into the microUSB/MHL port, but there are several options for you, as far as casting the screen onto a large screen, even with the Note 3 changing to USB 3.0 B

There's the MHL/HDMI adapter that should work with the microUSB port (despite the change to USB 3.0B)
HDTV Universal Adapter (11 Pin) )

or MHL 2.0 adapter
MHL 2.0 HDTV Smart Adapter

There is the Allshare Media Hub (Casts mirror image wirelessly)
Samsung WI-FI All-Share Cast Hub, Wireless HDMI Display Adapter (Black)

There is the Smart Dock Multimedia Hub
Samsung Galaxy Note

There are some generics out there that work just as well and aren't as pricey. I don't know if Samsung will do it again, but when I had purchased my Note 2 and then also purchased my Note 8, I had received a 50% off coupon for accessories purchased directly through Samsung, so I got a lot of these accessories at lower costs than normal. There are also some 3rd party retailers that offer much lower prices than Samsung without additional discount.

Hope this info helps. And, before you go ahead and purchase any of the accessories, I'd advise that you hold for a beat until it can be confirmed 100% that they will be compatible and work with the Note 3. I really can't see there being an issue, but I tend to throw caution to the wind, even when all signs point towards compatibility with accesories.

Thank you Drex. I'm sure I'll be ok . Something like Chromecast would be great, but I'll get an adapter once they become available for usb 3.

Chromecast, while I really love it for certain things, it doesn't really mirror the entire phone interface. So, if you're looking for something (for presentation purposes), all of those adapters are probably better choices. Allshare provides similar functions to chromecast, except it's not limited to the compatible apps or using a browser, while connected to wifi.

This is one of the better videos I found, just doing a quick search:
Samsung Galaxy S3 Wi-Fi Display AllShare Cast Hub - EAD-T10UDEGXEU - YouTube

The concept of the Smartdock is great and I use it every now and then, but the Allshare is so much more convenient to use and it's as simple as activating a toggle to connect with either my Note 2 or Note 8 tablet. The advantage with the Smartdock is that it has 3 USB ports, but I found that the transfer rate is awful, so the ports weren't as advantageous to me as I thought they'd be w/ external drives connected.

I had seen it mentioned in one of the videos that the Note 3 would definitely be compatible with allshare, so that is one of all the devices that would probably be safe if you went ahead and purchased in advance. Newegg has it for a very good price:
Newegg.com - New OEM Samsung AllShare Cast Wireless Hub HDTV HDMI Display Adapter EAD-T10JDE For Samsung Galaxy S 2/II, S 3/II, S 4/IV, Galaxy Note 10.1, Galaxy S2, S3, S4 (Bulk Packaging - No Retail Package) I saw on Amazon that there's a 3rd party retailer that offers it for a few bucks less.

I actually plan on using this for a business presentation I have to give next month.

Here's an HDMI -related question:

The Note 3 is capable of recording 1080p video at 60 fps. Not that many displays are capable of displaying video at 60 fps. I know mine's not. So why? If the TV can't play the video, will the phone/TV automatically scale back to 30 fps to display it? Why would they put that on the phone to begin with?

I actually had the same thought. Although, I just assumed that it would just automatically scale down. I'm thinking that addition of that feature is just foward thinking, but not necessarily being applicable to TV's that everybody can afford right now (e.g. 4K TV's that are still going to be marked up incredibly high).

I guess I'll find out fast if it scales down... I'd hate to think that I can capture that kind of motion and then not play it back on anything BUT the Note 3. Hopefully there will be a setting to move it to 30 fps default so out video equipment can handle it.

It might be one of the first things I try out. I was planning on taking a brief 4k video and then immediately casting it to all share hub.
