or....

hey sprint executives,

want my money now? i'm currently on t-mobile. if i sign now, there's the 30-day grace period in which i'll most likely enjoy the evo and agree to the 2-year contract. after the 30 days are up, i'm sure apple will release details of the new iphone, but it'll be too late for me to back out at that point without etf fees....but if you release the evo later, i'll still be able to cancel out and possibly jump ship to at&t for an iphone....

hee hee hee

anyways....back to reality.

I went over to the Inc thread to check out some vids cuz, the INC specs resembles the EVO. I mean that thread has blown up like a Christmas day sale at Wal-mart. I definitely would not want to be a Verizon subscriber. I guess VZ servers have been kick'n peeps out half way through their online order and having to start over, over, and over again. Some with no sucess of order at all..talking people spending hours just to get there order im. I don't this is becasuse the masses ordering think poor planing on VZ part. I know Sprint won't leave us hanging out in the cold when we come to pick up our EVO's. That thread is up to page 882 crazy.
I wanted to catch couple Inc vids to pass the time while I wait for some more EVO info.
I guess I just need to make sure and get my pre-order in @ BB and all should be good when the EVO drops. "I hope"

Maybe stores are going to get prototypes or dummy phones to display before the actual release date? Maybe that could be why a few are reporting the rumor of the phone coming in May? Or maybe it is because the special New York event and advertising blitz will begin in May? The "buzz" will begin in May?

Based upon the recently posted contest from Sprint for the "Blaze Across America with 4G" campaign, I believe that a May release is unlikely, rather, we remain on steady track for an early June release.

I am getting these dates below from the official rules from the Sprint Blaze Across America Contest.

The contest entry period ends Sunday, 05/09/10, and the 10 semi-finalists will be contacted Tuesday, 05/18/10. The stipulation is that the 10 semi-finalists will get the phone prior to the street date and have an opportunity to blog about the phone and "create a buzz". So between 05/18/10 and 05/26/10 the winning semi-finalists will likely receive their phone, and post a blog about the phone that will be posted and voted on by the public starting Wednesday, 05/26/10. I do not think that Sprint would release the phone prior to the public voting (05/26/10) for these blogs since it would deafeat the purpose of having the contest entirely.

Assuming a Sunday release date, that leaves only Sunday, 05/30/10 for a possible May release day, and I believe that is too close to the public release of the semi-finalist blogs. While it is technically possible to have a May release, I deem it rather unlikely. I realize that word on the net moves quickly, but 3-4 days does not seem long enough for those blogs to be fully realized by the public voting for them. Word needs to travel farther than just the internet and "buzz" the general populace as well for it to be a worthwhile contest and ad campaign.

The next Sunday after 05/30/10 is 06/06/10, and coincides with the well substantiated rumors for a pre-registration/pre-release of the phone. 10 days is long enough for "buzz" to take place and the blog contest to pay it's dividends. Also, if you look out one more week to 06/13/10, that gives about 17 days of marketplace "buzz" to take place.

I know it is a stretch for me to put on the hat of Sprint Marketing, and pretend like I know what they would/should do, but the timeline looks pretty well laid out to me, and right in line with the June rumor that has been out there for months. I have no inside sources and nothing to go on other than the info that has been given to us by way of the contest, my own logic, and my intuition,; Plus the June rumor that has been circulating since before we knew what the phone was called.

I think that the official contest info is the most solid evidence we have seen to date, and should be well considered.

(The only thing I haven't/can't account for is other retailers selling the phone, but I would think that it would/should be closely in complinance with Sprint. Maybe Sprint will for some reason give Best Buy the go ahead to sell on 05/30/10 3-4 days after the blog voting starts?)

Hi guys! No sports today~! But this color depth thing has been bothering me. On my Desktop I know that I can set my Monitor to either 16bit or 32bit. 32bit being so called "true color". Now 64K (x1000) or 64,000 colors isn't that much. 32bit color depth translates to 4.2 billion colors and gradients. It's the bit thing again. Everything is multiples of 8 or something like that. hehe

yea...about that contest...

they want only 10 people blogging about their experience to create a buzz? what about 100 people blogging about their experience to create a buzz? i'm sure if we, the forum users, were given the evo early that we could blog about it if we "had to".

how's that, sprint execs?

i'm also in a 4g area....so i'd blog about that experience too ;)

I hate to say this, but I'm suddenly really excited for the new iphone to come out! Not that I'd ever be caught dead using one, but since I know so many people with one who will most likely upgrade to the new model with the front facing camera, there will be a lot of opportunities to use the video chat capability of the EVO once the software is worked out for it. The experience of video chatting on the go will be a real futuristic leap forward compared to my current dull communication experience.

10 is a strategically chosen number for marketing purposes. 10 people probably will cover every age, ethnicity and tech level they need to cover to make a blog. If they did 100 people, nobody would pay attention. Having 10 people, allows the general public to identify with a smaller group, rather than being overwhelmed by a large one.

Hey guys, sorry i haven't been around had to go out of town for a tourny the past few days.

Any who, I am going to put this as simple as possible. I have NEVER heard ANY mention of a May release. It just doesn't exist. The two dates which i have given you, the 6th and the 13th stand strong. I don't know exactly what is going down on these days but something is happening on each. I have reason to believe like previously stated taht Best Buy will release on the 6th and Sprint stores on the 13th.

If you guys have any other questions or anything just leave a comment below, i didn't read the 6 pages i missed just this one so i may have missed something.

I wouldn't worry about whether folks continue to think there may be a May release or not. You've already made your statements on record. Let other folks speculate and guess as to when the actual drop will be. Because really, until a truly official announcement is made in writing, none of it matters.

Or to say it in another way, the Evo will drop precisely when the Evo drops. :p

I keep hearing may all the time. Everyone is stating mid to late may release.

I think I know why. If they release it in June. Everyone know that apple will market it into a corner. Apple will flood and destroy. It is what apple does.

Apple does only one thing very well, marketing. If the evo is released in june, it will have to take on apples marketing, and it will fail.

The people that are already on sprint might stay. But after a 2 month wait, I doubt it.

Sprint really knows how to be animosity against itself.

I think most people want a may release because;
1.) They know 2 months is too long to wait.
2.) Apple will toss it around like a toy in june.

If there are executives reading this thread. Reread this thread. Release it in June, watch it fail against apple, and never do it again.

End of the day, apple will look alot like the Evo. Front facing camera, same memory, about the same user interface. Oh be it is apple. So there is about 1 million units sold to them and not you.

Now this is just pointless, if the iphone is really a 4g phone. As in works on sprint and wimax. Then you want them to be released closely. To snag as much market share with two killer phones.

But trust me sprint, if you release the evo against the iphone, and the iphone is on another carrier, you are going to get creamed.

This phone will not fail if its released in June. ARE YOU MAD?! Just take a chill pill and some deep breaths. As long as it comes out before the iphone, which it is, it will be a success. And if you've seen those iphone HD leaks, the Evo is going to be an even bigger seller. You haven't even seen the real Evo yet....
