Bought accessories today at VZ Store

First, hello. This is my maiden post on your fine forum. :)

For the heck of it, I decided to stop into the Verizon store today to inquire about accessories for the Incredible I have on pre-order. I got the store manager who initially said that the accessories wouldn't be available until the phone launched. But then he paused and said, "hold on a minute... I think I might have some stuff in the back." He brought out three or four different cases and a pack of screen protectors. Then he asked me, "have you held it yet?" I said "no" and he perked up and began asking all of the associates if they had the Incredible. He finally found it, polished it up and let me play with it and try the case on. It is a SWEET phone but I suppose I'm preaching to the choir on that one.

I ended up buying the case/holster and three-pack of screen protectors. 20% off for buying two things. Interesting side note, the phone was called the HTC Incredible on all of the accessory packaging which reinforces that the Droid Incredible name was a late game addition.

In case you're interested, I'm attaching a few pics. Enjoy. :)

That case/holster looks nice! I don't believe I've seen that on the VZW website yet? Or have I overlooked it?

Thanks for sharing... I also got to play with a demo in my local store today and it was awesome, but yea, we all know it already :) So freaking fast!!! Only got to play with it for about 5mins, but was still sweet.

Hey Windy, I bought the Body Glove case and belt clip from VZW online. The only thing I am apprehensive about is that the screen faces outward when worn with the belt clip. How does the phone secure in the holster? It looks like it is held in place on both sides and the bottom, but nothing securing it from the top.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Kuga, the case was $29.99 and the screen protectors (3 pack) were $12.99. This is "sticker price" though because they were both 20% off for buying two things together. The case is of the harder variety, def. not silicone. It's got some texture but it's not "sticky" like silicone would be.

Capeguy, I'm liking the feel of the case. I got to put it on an actual, working Incredible in the store and it was perfect-just what I was looking for. It's not overly thick but tight. The case portion of it reminds of my Speck CandyShell for my iPod Touch a little. The interface in to the belt clip piece seems pretty solid. The phone faces inward for protection and is secured at the sides and bottom. The whole thing is held in place by friction. It wouldn't pop out easily I don't think. You need to push the phone outward and then up to release it. Belt clip is strong and tight. I think you'll like it.

Forgive my ignorance, but is the shell/holster combo in the pics actually 2 separate pieces? One is like a rubber casing around the phone goes in and then that piece goes into the holster?
Oh and can the clip piece come off at all?
Thanks!

Yes, it's two separate pieces. Once piece goes onto your belt and the other piece onto the phone. You can then easily "pop" the phone in and out of the belt holster without having to take the entire belt holster off or clip it off. I don't believe the clip piece comes off the holster.

I'm looking to get this "case" as well, I'm just worried about how secure the phone will be since I am an avid bike (bicycle) rider.

From the pictures I've seen of the screen protectors (just the cover) it seems that it only covers the screen and not the capacitive buttons or the rest of the face of the phone. Is that correct?

Thanks Frozen! Can you use just the rubber case that phone goes in just as a case that you can put the phone into your pocket? I'm a pocket guy and never used any belt clip holsters...

Yes, I do know that the VZW screen protectors are only for the screen itself. So, it doesn't cover the bottom portion where the optical joystick is.

You can use the rubber case that the phone sits in as a "case" but it doesn't provide much protection, will only protect the back from scratches really. It's just meant to attach the phone to the cradle properly and isn't meant for rugged use like some pocket cases are. At least that's what I'm assuming from the pictures.

I agree. You can use it separately without the holster but if you're going into it knowing you won't use the holster, you'd be better off buying just s case. From what I saw in the store though, they all seemed to protect the back only. And to confirm, the screen films do not cover the capacitive buttons on the face.

Case swivels.

Hmmmm. It looks like if you were to swivel it to the horizontal position it could just slip out. I have a similar case for my Palm Treo but there is a clip at the end to prevent it from popping out if wearing in a horizontal position.

I don't *think* this will happen. As I mentioned above, there is a fairly strong friction element plus you have to push the phone out (i.e., away from belt) before you can push it up. Could it fall out under the right circumstances? Maybe. But it shouldn't pop out while you're walking from your desk to the coffee machine which is probably more like what I'm going to be doing. :D

Thank you for posting this!
i have this case for my eris. HTC is officially known for makin great cases!
a ton of people in the eris forum have this type case and love it.
its SO secure!
if u drop it on the back dont worry. if u drop it on the front, it has a lil lip on each side to protect the screen from hitting the ground!
also its very slick and good lookin. it swivels too, for when in the car on your waist you can adjust it accordingly and easily.
just have to make sure you push it down all the way. with me it gets caught in my shirt at times and doesnt go all the way down...
but its my second nature now to make sure its all the way down (or still there...).
im getting my incredible 5/15 (payday and upgrade day WOOHOO) im sure it`ll be $20 by then, just like the htc eris :)

they they the anti glare/anti fingerprint screen protectors or are they high gloss?

Just regular ones. No anti glare or anti fingerprint. 3M makes privacy screens for cell phones that would do what you're looking for. They don't have a custom Incredible one yet but they have a "cut to fit" option. Doesn't seem ideal but it's an option.

for biking you might want to get a mount for your handle bar and try out the app sportypal

Not a fan of attaching expensive things to my handlebars :p I just feel more secure if it's on my body in case I get into any form of accident while riding. I already use an application like sportypal on my windows mobile device so I'm glad you mentioned it since I was looking for something similar for Android.

I think I'm going to wait a while before I get a case or holster for the phone, would love to get both the ones I'm thinking off but it's just a bit too much money.
