This phone is a bit low on user app space, not as low as the Optimus V which I started with.

Link2SD is a great program for rooted phones to move your apps to your ExtSD card. Be sure to Google how to properly set up your SD card to use the program.

Another life saver is GL to SD, again you need to be rooted. This program allows you to move your games data folders or obb folders from your internal storage to your ExtSD card freeing lots of space on those high end games.
Hint: copy folder and folder contents to ExtSD card, then you can delete the content from the internal phone folder, BUT leave the original folder!

Quick video showing the apps installed and my free space still available.

Basicly partition 1 is going to be your external SD card and partition 2 is going to be a hidden partition Android will mount it but will not show it being mounted in Settings>Storage this partition will be used like internal storage when apps are linked to it. Also check out External to Internal i think its in the play store makes it so the F3 mounts your external_SD as internal SD Card. Using External2Internal with Link2SD I have over 135 apps installed and 59 of them are games with only a 16Gb SDcard(1st partition is 10Gb and second is 6Gb in case you wanted to know)

to use link2sd you need a second ext4 partition use aparted to create it. I first just split my card in half 16b and 16gb after putting all my apps on I looked at storage info in link2sd and I used less than a gb and I have a lot of apps and games, so i personally dont think it needs to be that big i repartitioned it and only made it 3gb big which is more than enough and I havent had any problems.

so if you wanted to do the same thing with your card you would make a fat32 partition that takes up the majority of the card and then a smaller ext4 partition

the ext4 partition is for the symbolic link with link2sd
the larger fat32 partition is for whatever you want music pictures, Game libraries etc

Thanks. I rooted last weekend. The guide on the link2SD site suggested FAT32 because it is compatible for all phones. So I formatted my 8GB to 4GB and 4GB both FAT32. It appears the apps are going to the first partition (?) and my music and pictures on the second (ext_sd it calls it).

When I read the guide, I noticed that it said the first primary partition should be FAT32 and then the second primary partition should one of the EXT formats.

correct
1. get aparted app
2. make one partition fat32 that takes up most of the sd card
3. make another partition ext4, imho 3gb/3072mb is more than enough for this partition
4. get link2sd and select the ext4 partition as the partition for linking files
5. in link2sd click multi select, select all, actions, create link
6. enjoy your freed up space

When I read the guide, I noticed that it said the first primary partition should be FAT32 and then the second primary partition should one of the EXT formats.

I think the guide at the top of this post does say EXT.

I used the one on the Link2SD website: Description - Link2SD

Where it states "* Some phones lack the ext2, ext3 or ext4 file system support and you may get mount errors like "no such device", "invalid argument". These phones need a matching ext2.ko or ext3.ko modules and even some additional modules to be able to mount.
Using FAT32 on the second partition will eleminate such problems, because FAT32 is supported on all phones."

So I played it safe and went with FAT32 (also for Windows compatibility). I would think the developer of the app would know what he is talking about. However, I don't think it really matters as long as it works.

Also, I didn't wipe out my SD card. I resized the partition that had my music, pictures, etc. on it (it was already FAT32) and made the new partition FAT32.

OK, I installed GLtoSD. When I select "Move Data" the only thing that shows up is some normal apps. I at least expected to see Angry Birds SWII, World of Goo, or Doodle Army. ???

"Show mounted Folders" just sits there so I cancel it.

Then in Settings is has "Customize mounted folders" like I know where the game installs all it's data. Do you have to go thru and find all the game data and set up custom settings to use this app?

The main screen that appears when you open the app is empty - does not list a thing.

I guess I don't understand how to use it. Or is there some "trick" to setting it up?

thanks

This worked! I've been looking everywhere for a cure, and here it was. I didn't realize you have to un-mount the SD card first, then create two partitions. I created the ext4 first then the Fat32, I doubt that made a difference but I have a ton of space now! Thanks!
