I just got back from the biggest verizon store in my area. the manager came out and told me they were only getting 10 incredibles on launch day the 29th. he then had a form that he said just came out that reserves a phone for launch day. u pay $50. and get a gift card and a reservation paper with picture of incredible on it. u use the gift card to purchase the phone on launch day he said i was the first one to reserve one at his store. if they are only getting 10 phones i feel there is going to be alot of pissed off people on launch day:thinking:. i hope he is wrong

Dunno, maybe this is different from store to store? I went to my local store a week ago Monday and she said she didn't know how many phones they were getting, but call me Friday. I left work a little early last Friday and decided to just stop in since it's only a couple mins down the street from my house.
She said they got 15 phones in-stock Thursday. She and the other two sales people said to get there early Thurs, like 9am. They don't think it will sellout like the Storm did, but get there early. I'm the only one that's been asking this particular store about the Incredible so they "know" me already.. lol..
She didn't say anything about signing up, deposit or gift card, but I will call/stop by on Monday to confirm. Because if so, then I'm doing it!

Thanks for the info...

I talked with my rep that I frequent at a new corporate store in my area, and he stated that he was going to hold one for me, and that he hasn't had a ton of requests for them. He didn't offer how many they might get, but he said they are supposed to get them at the beginning of next week.

I asked him if he needed to take my name, or any cash, and he said they aren't set up to do that. He said he was coming in early that day and to be there at that time and he would hook me up. He said he is pumped about my enthusiasm for this product, and that he wouldn't let me down.

I don't understand why anyone would not order online except in the case where they want to touch the phone first? I ordered mine last week and am anxiously waiting...

Because I don't have to go through all the anxiety, crying and crap in the other threads about "My order status hasn't changed" BS. As I've already stated in several other pre-order threads, I'm the opposite. I see no reason to pre-order, as I'll be in/out of my local store this Thurs morning at 9am well before 99% of those who pre-ordered get theirs from FedEx :p
I will be paying the exact same price, with the only difference is I have to send in my $100 rebate. Big whoop-de-do!

Again, to each his own. But right now, I have 0% anxiety going into this week about getting the phone unlike about 99.9% of the people on here who are going stir freakin' crazy. Just look at the past 10pages of 900 in the main thread and you'll see what I'm talking about. Pandemonium at it's best and all for nothing

One and only reason I pre-order is the get the instant rebate instead of having to mail the rebate in. I never had any luck in getting my rebate check whenever I mailed it int.

Since I can't take off from work, I pre-ordered from Bestbuy since I don't have to mail-in to get my rebate.

Yup, that's another reason for me no pre-order. Having to wait around for FedEx. Sure, I can call them that morning and put it on hold somewhere, etc, but shiet, that's just too much darn work. If you already have to do all this and drive to the local FedEx location, then why not just drive to your local VZW store and get it there all safe and sound. So much easier.... Maybe it's just me? :)

Hmm, can't speak on why you never got your rebate check. The last 3 VZW phones I've gotten in 5 years (incl my wife's) I sent in each rebate form and got my checks. Simple as putting a postage stamp on an envelope and mailing. Can't be any simpler than that!
Plus you can check your rebate status on-line and receive email updates. Again, soooo simple and 99.9% effective (since you didn't get yours)

I asked my local store and they are not taking pre-orders, but they do have a list. I got on the list last Wednesday for 2 phones, and was told that not many people are in front of me. According to the manager, the store is going to have 70 phones available on the 29th. Interestingly, the manager also told me that he would call me if they can sell the Incredible a few days early. I guess the phones are in stock, but the SKU is locked out of the cash register by Corporate. The manager told me that as soon as the SKU is unlocked (usually a few days prior to launch), they will sell the phones.

I can't speak for others, but I seem to have horrible luck with new phones. The last 3 upgraded phones I got had major problems that were obvious at boot-up. The first 2 were purchased online, and I had to send the defective phone back, and it had to be processed by VZW before they sent me another one. The last one was in-store. The CSR saw the problem and went to the back and got me a new one on the spot. I'd rather not risk it.

My store received 24 phones. We received the launch kit with a live demo. We also received a mix of cases, and the normal screen protectors. My location is a mid level corporate store, in terms of volume, so some of the bigger stores might be receiving more units. Its also possible we'll receive more phones before the release date, we got a second shipment of Droids right before release last November.

off topic, but: rebates are not so simple. just because you fill it out correctly doesnt mean the idiot on the other end can read. i haven't ever gotten bitten by a rebate, but if i can avoid them, i do. its principle for me. rebates are around because there is a percentage of people who will buy the product and NOT get their rebate money. and to me that is kind of a whoop de do.

I'm just going to go and buy the phone in person. Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't everyone have to go in the store and get the phone set up and numbers and contacts all transferred over to the new phone?

No - not if you have Back Up Assistant already on your current phone (free). Then you just load Back Up Assistant on your new phone and it will transfer all the numbers and contacts instantly without waiting in line (waits in MY local store for technical service to do phone to phone transfers are 30 minutes min).

Activating the phone also does not require going into a store.

I always order online for the instant rebate, and just have the phone shipped to my job. We receive hundreds of Fedex and UPS deliveries a day, and my receiving guy just IM's me when I'm expecting an order and it arrives. Of course, I'm also tracking and as soon as I see he's signed for a package, I head out to the warehouse.

i'm not one of these "pics or it didn't happen"....but i would be interested in seeing the form you received. you could put a little piece of paper over any confidential info before snapping the pic.

What's the procedure for activating at one's home or office? I was thinking it was the "228" dial up...but I've never done that. If that is the procedure, is there a way to enter the phone number you are upgrading to?

it will come with directions. the last one i got in the mail was for a different line than the one i used the upgrade for...i ended up calling in....but it was still painless and able to do it from home.
