eris video out with this cable?

My phone and my car have horrible compatibility issues. iPod integration is flawless, but videos do not play on the screen. Fine. But the audio doesn't play out of the video either. So for a music video in the Videos section, I hear nothing.

What car do you have, btw?

And I'm using an iPod Touch. They seem to be more complicated as my Classic works fine with 3.5mm cables.

I realize this is your phone, but my phone has the same issues. With an aux jack, it still won't play music through my car speakers. I would say it was the phone, but it just seems like it varies by car.

I got the cable and tried it out yesterday. It didn't work. I'm wondering if there is a need for some software with it.
I also saw that there will be a 3.5 mm video out cable that will work with the HTC incredible. I wonder it that one will work with the Eris. BTW HTC is no help at all.
If the incredible does have video out I will jump on that band wagon.

I contacted HTC support by email regarding this cable. This is the response I received:

Dear XXXX, We understand the importance of having all the information on our phones. The Verizon Droid Eris is not compatible with a TV Out cable because the Verizon Droid Eris is not programmed with a TV Out program by default. If you want to have TV Out function with your Droid Eris, you will need to see if there is a program on the Android Market that could add such a program to your phone. Thank you for contacting HTC.

I had already searched the market, and the web, for such an app, and hadn't found one; I was hoping HTC might point me in the right direction, but as you see, they weren't much help.
Does anyone know of an app that permits the Eris to output media via the usb connector?
