Yup, got my handbrake settings all tweaked for the EVO, just wish I could test the files. :D

< -- Handbreak user as well, out of curiosity what settings did you use?

hopefully once you guys get the evo in your hands and start getting movies and viewing them on your phone after the handbrake thing does it job, you can share your settings/tips to us who have never done something like this before with our phone. we'd definitely appreciate it!!!

What needs to happen is someone create an EVO profile that can be posted so we can import it into handbrake. Easy Peasy.

I just rented Avatar and saw it finally. sorry but that movies was so predictable. I got bored with the story line. Its just a repackaged Dances with Wolves with better acting/narrator. funny thing is most of the acting was done by computers.

Oh and having the fist scene with Sigorny Weaver coming out of a cryo pod with a bad attitude was done at least once before ;)

Well, that's what you get for renting it rather than seeing it in the theater :p. Also, most the acting wasn't done by computers--and there wasn't enough of it to justify that statement :p.

Are you telling me there are 10' - 12' blue people running around hollywood, with tails? I am pretty sure all the 'alien' scenes were computer animated of some sort.

EDIT: and to tell me this movie is only for large screen theatrics, that right there tells you its a stinker and a 'must miss'. I go for plot and story telling in my movies. FX are great but if thats it about the movie, never mind.

Computer-generated imagery made from motion capture and real dialogue does not an animated movie make.

In a way. But I think seeing technology which may well revolutionize the future of entertainment was worth the ticket cost. I view my exchange of money as being made for the experience of the technology, not the movie--and I think that it was a fair price to pay. YMMV.

Motion capture is good for gross motor movements but for the detail facial structures, is all animated, at least it was a few years ago. I admit I don't keep up to date on the technology for this stuff.

Agreed and understood. Part of my problem is I have an eye condition that makes me have no depth perception, not any. 3d movies make my brain hurt after awhile. So while I will not be seeing all these new 3D movies coming out, I would still like to see some movies. The tech is good and all but I need a movie that surprises me in the end. Everyone hates watching movies with me as I'll usually have it all laid out halfway through. Some I haev figured out 20 minutes in. And don't get me started on previews. I get the whole movie in that 1 to 2 minutes usually.

That sucks, and makes your opinion all the more understandable.

That was all real, as well--the actors had very, very high definition cameras analyzing every muscle in their faces while they were acting. Pretty impressive stuff.
