Accessories HTC ONE accessories (discussion, user reviews)

I got my One a couple days ago and I can't complain about a single thing. The camera on this is thing is pretty amazing as it is. Compared to the S4, the main camera has a wider lens and can capture a lot more of the same scene and the ultrapixel sensor allows a lot of light even at at the same ISO.

Here's some stuff for phoneography. Add to it or add reviews if you want :D

Will these products work so I can setup my Sony Trinitron tv to broadcast movies, videos, and pictures from my HTC One? Figured I should ask the cell phone geeks (meaning all of us) if this bright idea will work.

I will use these cables to power my phone and connect to the HDMI converter box.
micro-USB to HDMI MHL Adapter Kit w/ HDMI Cable & Power Cable 10021

Then I will use this HDMI converter box to connect to my tv:
Amazon.com: New 3 RCA Composite S-video R/L Audio to HDMI Converter: Electronics

Customer service told me to go with this one guys because it will charge my phone as well.
Amazon.com: Panlong MHL to Composite RCA TV Android Adapter 5-pin Micro-USB to AV/CVBS Converter for MHL-enabled Samsung Galaxy S Note HTC LG ASUS Smartphones/Tablets: Cell Phones & Accessories

I was hanging around The YouTube the other day and this video came up in the related videos. With the promise to magically "Turn Your HTC One Black" I had to click it even though I knew it was too good to be true, just to see what it was all about.

eBay.com | SmartSkins Store - HTC One
This Black skin set they preview actually looks like it is not that bad. With good looking cut and quality (not that I would ever use one).
I know its farfetched but maybe these skins might be a decent solution? A clear case being a good complementary product to prevent peeling?

As you mentioned, many would have opted for the black ONE if it were available on their carrier,& this appears to be a viable solution.

MANY THX for sharing this w/us,PyroSporker!

I went ahead & ordered the matte black one, about $13 (USD)

HTC One M7 Matt Matte Skin Wrap Cover Sticker Protector NOT CASE | eBay

ETA August 23-28,2013.

Spendy little shipping VAT :(

This product is a sticker, they make that pretty clear in their description, so it will likely be quite different than, what I find to be hideous, wet apply "protecting products" like Zagg (Xtreme Guard, Ghost Armor, Skinomi, XO Skins, or bestskinsever, etc. etc. ad naseum)
Smart Skins will likely peel easier at the edges. You probably know this, just an FYI to others.

It's all good,I don't mind being the GUINEA PIG..................... :D

I'll post as soon as it arrives & an update a couple weeks later on the durability.:)

Crazy fast processing/shipping:5 DAYS TOTAL from U.K. to U.S. :vroam: :thumb:

The quality actually surpassed my expectations. The material is definitely more substantial than a sticker, but, just shy of a full-fledged body skin.

Applied properly/aligned,this skin/decal will look great.A steady hand is essential & a magnifying lamp is suggested to facilitate a quicker/straighter alignment/installation.(You can peel-off/remove & re-install as many times as necessary for a proper installation/application).

As for concerns regarding the edges peeling, just follow the mfgs recommendations/instructions (a blow dryer after applicaton to seal the edges) & those concerns shoud be put to rest.
The kit comes w/decals to cover virtually the entire phone:FRONT/BACK/EDGES,but,I believe I'll go w/keeping the backside covered & leave the rest alone.

First, I want to say itskins makes the best and lightest case for the HTC One. When I'm dressed nice or going out I usually throw my itskins case onto my One. Otherwise, I'm sporting a clear case from Radio Shack. I was sitting in a chair and enjoying the company of friends in a pizza joint around 3 AM and I was partially inebriated. I felt around in my holster for my One and I couldn't find it. So I looked underneath my seat and I located my phone. I performed a pretty thorough inspection of the phone. My One had zero scratches on the front, backside, and the screen did not crack. The One had to have experienced at least a 2.5 foot fall from my holster onto the tile floor. The itskins case stood up to the fall test. I think I'm going to order another itskins case because I get more compliments using that case rather than my clear, plastic case. The case made by itskins is beautifully crafted for the One. I would suggest HTC start selling those types of cases for their phone because they weigh nothing and look great. If you don't have an itskins case, waiting 20 days for them to ship you one is worth the wait!

I did some traveling this past week and I did not want to have to seek out power stations or outlets for my One or 3D. And when you travel and plan to stay with friends you don't know if the outlets in the guest bedroom will be close or far from your bed or the night stand. So I went to Amazon.com and purchased the Anker Astro E5 15000 mAh Portable battery pack. The battery pack can deliver a charge of 1A and 2A simultaneously. It worked flawlessly to power my One and 3D at the same time. I was watching Superman with the HBO GO app using Sprint's 4G network while in the airport and powering my One at the same time. The battery pack seems to actually charge the phone faster than using a power outlet in my "opinion." I haven't checked the battery monitor app to see if my assertion is correct. Or if you need to charge your phone(s) on a flight you can pull out the Anker battery pack and have your phone(s) pretty well charged before landing. I endorse this product for the One and traveling: Amazon.com: Anker

Hi folks,
Does anyone have a really good and reputable source for where I can acquire a headphone plug (or two or three) and a micro USB cover?

I've got a cover on my HTC One, but they both have cutouts for access. I don't want to get a cover that has those covers built in already because I've had bad experiences.

I don't want to go buy some strange phone charm at the mall just to get the plug (personally, I chainmaille, and I'd make my own, so I just need the plug part of this), and I don't want to chance eBay or Amazon on someone random in case things don't fit, don't ship, or otherwise don't work out. So, I'm turning to the brain trust here to help me.

Thanks in advance!

Just to chime in on the car mount discussion from a while back-- I picked up the universal mount they sell at the verizon store, which attaches either with an adhesive, or with a little spring mechanism to the vent (which is how I'm using it). It was $19.99

I'm usually really weary about buying any of the verizon brand stuff but I'm really liking this. It holds the phone very securely (I have my One in an otterbox commuter) but it's still easy to get in and out and seems like it would definitely fit whatever phone/case/etc. The vent isn't ideal since that vent obviously becomes less functional, but it feels very secure while also being a lot faster to get the whole unit on and off than a strong suction cup.

On the other hand the screen protectors I got there today were awful

How is the skin holding up buddy?

Very well.

I can only speak for the 3 pieces that cover the backside, as I didn't care for the look on the front grille(s).

There are also pieces in the kit that cover the white edges that I didn't bother to apply, just too much of a monochromatic look for me.

Funny that you should ask,as I just removed the decals last night to take photos of the phone for listing it for sale & the decals actually adhered better over time, but, did not leave a residue or discolor & left the BEATS logo & small print intact.

Anyway, the decals apply easily enough & you can remove & re-position for straightness as required on initial application.
Afterwards, the decals make a firm bond & stay in place w/no edge peeling whatsoever. :)

The seller of these is one cool cat as well, definitely worthy of mentioning! :D

This is a relatively inexpensive way to dress-up/change the appearance of the ONE while also providing a level of protection, I highly recommend getting one of these.

will have to buy some more and give it a go already seperated the protector so prob wont work now

any recommednations?

Not any particular recommendations, but, just a couple things to consider to narrow down the possibilities:

1) Wet or dry application:
Just a difference in application methods, one isn't better than the other for performance, just different installation procedures from different mfgs.

2) Level of protection:Some have a barely-there profile, some are a bit tougher & perhaps not as smooth to the touch.

I'd recommend getting some inexpensive protectors at first,a bulk pack of 3 or so,from e-Bay/AMAZON/etc....
If they work for you,no need to pay upwards of $30 for the top-of-the-line/name brand ones,+,you can get your application technique honed to perfection w/o the worry of ruining an expensive protector.

3) I've done this one myself:
Take your phone & screen protector to your friendly service provider. Most likely, they will install it for you, whether you bought it from them or elsewhere.

I bought xtreme skins after reading this thread. They are wet application and I find them to be a gazillion times easier to apply then the hard plastic type. Unfortunately that have a rubbery texture at first but break in to less so but still can feel rubbery. I only mention this because I find Swype and some games can be harder with a rubbery texture. The only advice I can give for the dry application screen protectors is ask someone else to do it. Clean the screen with scotch tape. With the wet application, just be patient and don't rush. I was able to apply it perfect the first try but luck could have been a big part of that lol.
