Looking for a recommendation for a good video viewer. I mostly view .mp4 and .wmv videos. The vast majority and looking for something with some versatility in terms of video format and size, etc. Even if it costs a few bucks -- no problem.

This will be my first try at viewing video on my Hero. Just installed larger Class 4 micro-SD and it is working great for photos, and other stills.

What say folks?? -- Thanks!! -- Bob :D

The best video viewer is mVideo (Market) and its free. I use Handbrake (Google it) to convert files on my computer for the phone. Simply use the iPhone and iPod Touch presets to convert movies that will play great on your Hero.:)

Thanks dude mvideo rocks. Been lookin for a way to know what video is what since it don't show in album folder. Now I gotta try handbrake.

Will the settings iphone/ipod work on a Droid too. Been looking for a converter or player to use with my windows video formats AVI MP4 etc.

Thanks

Secret's converter has some extensive configuration allowances as to screen size, bitrate, etc. I use it and convert using these settings:

MP4
H.264/AVC - Video
AAC LC - Audio

VIDEO Settings

Scale 384:288
Ratio 4:3
Frames Sec 25
BitRate 480 kbps

AUDIO

44100 Freq
2 Channels
64 BitRate kbps

Those play Vid wonderfully on my HERO. There are other settings that may work too and I haven't tried converting a DVD with surround sound, lol
Worst thing that didn't work well was the scale and Bitrate on Video, those are the two biggies that would screw up the video and make it unplayable.

Anyway, hope that helps ;)

Just wanted to update.. I have used Handbrake to convert a few videos.. so far the results are very good.
Mvideo seems to play them all very well on my Droid. video quality is awesome, and the sound seems to stay in synch. With the conversion settings listed below.
I used these settings that were recomended by a different web site specifically for Droid. From this URL
Motorola Droid – Best Video Format Conversion Settings Using Free HandBrake | Fun Tech Talk

If I wanted to try meridian which version would you suggest? There are 3 on the market.

These were the settings from that URL.. posted it here for ya.

HandBrake setting for the Motorola DROID Phone
Select iPod legacy, change width to 848 (should turn box green automatically) Mine did not turn green
Exact Settings:
848
