Hello all, very new HTC One owner here, great forum and great phone!

I am having an issue with hiding unwanted apps in my app tray.

When I select the "Hide Apps" option, the icons for all the apps pop up and then disappear so quickly I can't even select one. The Cancel/Done buttons are still selectable on the bottom of the screen, but all the app icons have vanished.

I just received the 4.3 update, I have had the phone about 24 hours, I have rebooted the phone, I just can't get it to work!

Any help is appreciated as a cluttered app tray bothers me hehehe!

Thanks!

Spent some time working on my phone with instruction from HTC yesterday with no luck. The last correspondence from them said that they will be looking for other trouble reports and may issue a software update. So far no luck with a fix.

The rep indicated that they were unaware of the text message photo problem.

Yup I got the same line about them being unaware. The had me install 3rd party SMS apps to see if the problem persists.

try rebooting the phone with a hard reset. make sure your fast boot is off.. then hold the power button down for like 10 seconds.. keep holding till it turns off.. let it reboot..

there is nothing ground breaking with this update.. actually.. it is a little faster.. battery life.. i havent seen any improvement..

there are more things about it.. i dont like than i do.. my main thing.. is.. when accessing the notification bar.. from the lock screen, and clicking my messages.. it doesnt go to the app..

other than that.. nothing spectacular.. but no bugs other than that..

if you have to have pictures next to your messages in text.. then dont do it.. cuz mine dont work either..

Edit: my list of issues
Cant get Gmail to not vibrate on notification, unless its on silent
notification bar, while locked, wont go to text app
when bluetooth connects, in my car.. my phone has to vibrate, and send a notification.

1: Yes I haven't found a way for it to not vibrate on Gmail notification short of turning of Gmail notifications (which defeats the purpose of push email). But it doesn't bother me because I have vibrate on in Gmail anyway. I would open a ticket with HTC on that just to let them know it annoys you

2: Which text app are you using? Are you using a passcode or anything on your phone? When I receive a text and I turn my screen on, I just press in the text and swipe up (from the text) to unlock and it goes directly to that text message in Messaging app.

3: Can you explain a little more what is going on with your Bluetooth? What kind of car/bluetooth setup is it? I have mine connecting to two different cars: One is a Pioneer Head Unit and the other is a Ford Sync setup. Both connect seamlessly after the initial pairing. Have you deleted the pairing and the re-paired your phone and bluetooth device after update?

#1, i agree.. its just something i have to deal with..

#2, use handcent. have forever.. i do have a lock on the phone.. but only after 1hour due to my work email. previous to 4.3. if i had a notification, i could just hit the power button, pull down notification, click the handcent notification, and it would pull up that text, or if it was multiple text it would just pull up the app message list.

#3, when i get in my car, turn it on, once my car connects to my phone, my phone vibrates, and my text notification sound sounds.. i think i got a message, and i look, i see a bluetooth icon in the top left corner as a notification. same thing happens when i connect to my bluetooth speaker in my apartment. 2013 Hyundai Elantra, all factory. did not do this prior to 4.3

did not do this prior to 4.3

#1 Yeah. HTC fixes things and breaks others. Not sure why they change what works.

2# Ahh I gotcha. I use Stock but I wonder if HTC added more security to disallow that behavior from a third party app?

3# Huh, that is odd. Mine doesn't behave in that way at all. I will play around with my phone and bluetooth devices and see if I can recreate that.

I can't believe I didn't notice this but they got rid of the Always showing Power Save in the pulldown. Now it is only visible when you turn on power save from settings or it turns on by itself when your battery gets to low. No more long press, app info, force stop!

yea.. never had these issues before the 4.3

i will try to get a screenshot next time. if you dont mind.. can you go into settings, click bluetooth, then menu, advanced.. is message access checked?

i will also try stock app

Edit:

on the messages thing.. may just be a handcent thing.. if i type a test message to myself, and just lock the phone.. the app wont launch from the notification, however.. if i send the message.. and say.. hit home button.. then lock phone.. it will pull up the app..

Yeah probably a Handcent thing, maybe an update will fix it. As far as my Bluetooth settings go I have Message access On and FTP Server Off.

same for me.. well.. i did notice.. even though it does give me a notification when bluetooth connects, it does disappear after a minute.

Try and get a screenshot if you can. I am intrigued; I just connected to my car and made sure to pay attention to any notifications. It doesn't vibrate or make a sound but the screen does flash a message for less than a second. It is kind of too fast for me to even read what it says but I caught the word connected.

Also on the Gmail vibrate notification thing, I have found that Outlook app and stock mail app do the same thing so I guess it is a blanketed mail notification.

Wow really? I guess i am in the minority there then so everyone just has double apps? doesnt that seem a bit silly to anyone else?

Are there any downloadable apps that can do what I now have grown so use to?

I know how you feel with the double apps but like everyone said its not new...my only solution was creating folders to keep it clean and tidy :)

I'm on sprint and I got the update today, ever since the wifi will randomly disconnect and reconnect, not allowing me to do anything for a few seconds. Also seems to be draining my battery, been off the charger for only 4 hours with little use and its down to 15% already and shows that wifi is 50% of battery usage.

Is this because of the update or some setting I can't seem to find?

can anyone verify that they are not only having an issue with the analog strength meter, but also the actual DBm level indicator under settings>about>network>signal strength not showing the correct levels?

I run signal check pro so I constantly monitor the dBm levels in the area (since Sprint is actively upgrading nearby towers). My signal bars have definitely dropped but the actual signal level is still the same.

Huh, looks like somehow it changed it so you aren't automatically connecting. I really would delete all your pairings from your phone and also on your devices and then repair (if you haven't already). Deleting it from the devices is an important step as this will be starting fresh.

On a different note I have discovered that when my Contact pictures all disappear from my Messaging app, I am on WiFi. The second I turn WiFi off, most of my pictures come back except for one or two.

I thought this update would remove the black bar (settings) but it's still there. Like the quick settings and the battery percentage but honestly don't see much else to make up the 560mb file. New bloat maybe? The wild tangent thing was difficult to disable.

No problems with signal our anything else.

The update should give you the option to disable the dots menu. Goto settings-display-then scroll down a little to buttons-home. Press on home and pick the option that says "swipe up for Google now & press and hold for menu"

Just wondering, if you don't like the update, is it possible to do a factory reset and put the phone back the way it was? I've decided not to update my HTC One because it is working fine like it is. The main reason I wanted to update was to get the Photosphere feature, but I found out they are only on Nexus devices, so I don't have a compelling reason to update my phone. I will probably get a Nexus 7 tablet instead.

I have an HTC One with AT&T and I am trying to upgrade to Andriod 4.3 which came out yesterday. When I go into settings and select AT&T software update and tell it to "Check for updates" it says it is checking then the message goes away like nothing has happened. My coworker was able to update her HTC One via this process and prior to the update would get a message that she cannot check for another 24 hours if there was no update. I thought maybe my AVG Antivirus software was getting in the way so I uninstalled that and tried again but still checks and says nothing. I have read another post of a user that had this issue and the reply said to clear data from the Google Services Framework but reading other posts users have said that is a very bad idea. I had the phone factory reset (after busting my screen) about a month ago and I have tried shutting down and a full restart but no change. Still checks then stops with no message.

no, you cant roll back the update. you will have to root your device to do this.

visit the rooting subforum of your carrier and find out how.
