Hmm I wonder if it will be a case of "Well we released it to Verizon, and they've been sitting on it for 6 months" like the Thunderbolt and LG Spectrum ICS updates.

Yeah, I can't get excited about this. I had the Thunderbolt and had to deal more than once with being told that an update was coming only to have to wait ages for it to actually happen.
Well, HTC has made "promises" of updates to Verizon phones and has failed to deliver on time in the past. ICS for the thunderbolt came very late, and I'm not even sure if the Rhyme or Incredible 2 ever got their ICS updates or if they were scrapped.

You're missing the point. HTC came through with those upgrades, Verizon was just slow in pushing them. So HTC saying they plan to have the upgrades by the end of September is not a rumor. However, saying that we'll actually get those upgrades is a different story, and doesn't really mean anything until Verizon says so.

I keep seeing this brought up in various forums/blogs/etc.. and it makes no sense. (no pun intended)
ICS runs like absolute sh*t on the T-Bolt, which is probably why HTC was so reluctant to push it.
The DNA still has the hardware to run anything for the foreseeable future. Two completely different cases. With the T-Bolt I think HTC finally gave in to the pressure and said 'F*ck it, you want ICS? here you go.. Enjoy!' knowing full well how it would perform.
Now if we get into Oct without news of an update by HTC we can bust out the pitchforks. Until then, relax, realize HTC NEEDS to get updates out quickly if they want to keep people happy and save their brand.
I was one of those with a Thunderbolt. All we got were promises. When everyone finally stopped waiting, we woke up one morning with an upgrade that overwhelmed the phone. I don't believe in updates until there on my phone. I try not to put it on my phone until it is proven to work. Good luck to all of us.
I just got a pop up for an update. I hit the home screen so I could come here first to see what it was. Now I can't find the update. Go to settings update check new and nothing happens. Have to think the is another way to trigger?

I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to say here. Are you saying I'm wrong about the update, or that the update is useless? Either way, I disagree.
