Did i miss a change or something? When did AF become Phandroid.

I've always viewed the forums in desktop mode from my phone, that's my preference, now somehow it's stuck in this mobile mode that i can barely see even zoomed to the max it's so tiny. I know i didn't change any settings on my phone or the forums.

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Please i want desktop view back!!!!!

We've been Phandroid for a while.

As Harry points out, we have a tapatalk based app on Play which is generally much easier for browsing than using a mobile browser.

The new mobile site is still very much a Work In Progress at the moment so it's not complete and I'm sure Admin would be happy to hear if you have any feedback/bugs to report. :)

Moving to the suggestion box and feedback forum where they'll have a better chance of seeing this.

Thanks for replying guys ...I didn't change anything in my browser settings, and all other sites i normally click on still show in desktop view. But i know what you mean, i checked Linux desktop, but in that mode for some reason i can't post anything, weird, this is really buggin me!

Also, on this page, right below where it says reply, it says (test) ,never seen that before, and where the thanks button should be there is just a question mark. Please help!

As for tapatalk,i tried it for awhile, but i'm just set in my ways i guess, didn't really like it. I just want to get this resolved, . I really want desktop view back!!!!!!

I think there are a couple of conversation's going on here.

Most web pages ignore the agent setting and just put out the page using whatever is set.

There was apparently a recent change in Android Forum to put the page in two different formats based on the agent setting.

If you never set anything in your browser it is probably set to mobile and after the change reported by the OP the issue appeared.

Since I spend 100% of my time on IE9 it never affected me.

If you change agent to desktop you will force it to always be that way until you change it again.

You should be able to view the desktop version of the site (without changing user agent) by scrolling down to the bottom of the page and hitting "View full site". We've had some reports that this doesn't work on some people's phones, which is a bug that will be addressed soon hopefully, but it's worth a try.

Yes, i've tried that, that was the first thing i thought of doing but unfortunately it didn't work.
Thanks for trying though!

EDIT : I've been hitting the blue question mark where the thanks button should be, is it showing my thanks, thanks.

So, i'm a little confused, if i leave it in Linux desktop, it will always stay that way and eventually i will be able to post, or should i leave it alone. I'm confused?

Basically, there are two solutions at the moment.

1) Use the "Full site" link. It may or may not work - I know it doesn't work for me in Dolphin browser. This is the ideal solution, but the current implementation is buggy and will be fixed.

2) Change your user agent to that of a desktop, which is a workaround you can use now and should work in most browsers. If you change the useragent in your browser's settings, then it should let you browse the desktop site (it worked for me in Dolphin browser). If it doesn't, all I can suggest is to try another browser in the mean time. As Thom pointed out, setting your user agent this way will affect every site you visit. Alternatively, some browsers (chrome and the stock AOSP browser that I know of) will let you specify a desktop useragent for an individual tab - usually if you hit the menu icon and find the option to "request desktop site".

Option 2 isn't ideal, but it should solve the problem until we get solution 1 working. Sorry to have you jumping through hoops to visit us :(

EDIT: Your thanks do show :) Others have reported that the image for the thanks button doesn't show, but I guess it is still functional.

It's utterly hopeless when using Safari on my iPad. Utterly hopeless. And why should I have to change my browser? I didn't create the problem.
That and for any email notifications I receive, when you tap on the email link it will automatically send you to Safari. You don't get a choice.

For all the hassle I am getting I will be leaving android forums for the time being.

The mobile site is so neutered I don't see how anybody can use it. Maybe if you just want to stay in one sub forum, but navigating the site with it is all but impossible. And it doesn't even load faster than the full site.

Oh yea, you are so right, it is impossible to navigate. I wouldn't mind so much, but the text is so small i can't even see it without glasses and i don't even wear glasses!

I hope it gets fixed ASAP.

We've fixed the issue for the mobile view and desktop choice and GuitarG20 tested it on an iPad.

We're still working on bugs and enhancements - if it's causing trouble, you can revert to the full view.

Not sure what you mean about email notifications - we pop up private message notifications.

Brilliant... Cheers my friend for letting me know.
Happy to say ~ yes, it's back to its good old self:party:

The 'mobile version' is still limiting but at least when I now tap on 'Full View' it changes Safari to Desktop Mode, my default of choice.

Re the notifications ~ What I was referring to was, any email notifications I receive on topic updates i.e. As in this one, if I tap on the address in the email notification it will by default open up Safari and load the web page. Safari was the one that was showing the errors and you could not change it.
It was annoying because what it meant was I could not load a notification directly from within my email app on the iPad. You had to first copy the address details then manually load an alternative browser such as Chrome or Dolphin on the iPad, select a new page and paste the copied address...... all very tedious.

Now all is fixed... Cheers.
