How can I make WIFI turn on automatically

Hello.
When I turn on my phone.....my data connection begins.
But, I'd like the WIFI connection to begin.

How can I do that...so it occurs automatically....each time I turn on the phone?

I don't like Tasker because I don't understand it....but, hopefully there is another way to do this.

Do you mean when you wake up the phone or physically turn it on?

Is there some reason you can't leave wifi enabled? I leave wifi and mobile data enabled from the pull down menu (notification bar).

In WIFI settings > Advanced.

There is a wifi timer option which you could set to automatically set to on each morning or what ever time you would want it on from.

As the post above has said though, if you are going to be using it and wanting it on everytime you turn your phone on, why not just leave it on?

You could use NFC tags, but then that requires always leaving NFC turned on.

If you don't want to leave WiFi on all the time, there is a program called Setting Profiles that is similar to Tasker, but much, much easier to use. You can set it to enable WiFi based on a huge list of possible triggers. I use the Time and Location triggers quite frequently for various things. SP works very well and has a lite and a pro version. The lite version only allows one thing to happen at a time. The Pro version is not very expensive. I think it was $4.95 when I got it and was well worth the money.

WiFi Matic is free in the play store. You can set it up to turn on when you are only within the area of the particular networks that you want. For instance, when I walk into my house, it automatically turns on, and then when I leave my home it turns off. When I get to work or school, it turns on to get on those networks and off when I leave.

There may be other ways, but I use Juice Defender Ultimate to accomplish that (I suspect you can also do it with the free version of Juice Defender).

I used JD on my previous Android phone. I found I was too proactive switching off mobile data and had issues sending MMS messages (which I discovered require data). In my normal area, I didn't find the 3G radio to be that much of a battery hog, so I learned to leave it enabled.

Much depends on the environment of the individual user. If in a fringe area, the radios may boost the power needed to acquire/maintain connections depleting the battery more rapidly than someone in a good coverage area. For me, JD does not provide any significant benefit to my GS4 in my normal travel area.

Also, I have Battery Guru installed which I believe is supposed to function in a manner similar to JD.

I use Llama to do the same thing, it's free. It works on cell phone towers that you select as being home, work, and other locations. I use it to turn off mobile data and turn on wifi when I am at home, and vice versa when I am elsewhere. It changes my ring tones when I am at work to something a little less provocative (not the scene from Pulp Fiction!). etc. It puts my phone on silent after 11pm at night. It will start or stop different applications when I plug in the charger and so on.... I looked at Tasker but Llama is much easier to use.

I found Automagicto be worthe the effort because it can also automate many settings. I have a setting for work that disables the mobiledata and put the sounds to vibrate and reverses that when it is out work's wireless range. It handles multiple SSID's so you can have many different "flows" (their term).
