Cut/copy & paste in android

Hi all!
This is my first post.
I am a long time WM user (AT&T Tilt 2 is my current device) but am very intrigued with Android. I am considering an Unlocked Nexus 1 now that it is available on AT&T. I have a million questions that haven't been answered by the reviews i've read. First on my list is how does android deal with cut/copy and paste issues? I have thousands of photos on my micro sd card that i have cut and pasted from "my pictures" into the 100's of folders i have created. If i take 50 photos at a family gathering how do i move them into the appropriately labeled folders? are there 3rd party file explorer apps for android? can i highlight multiple files (photo or otherwise) and then move them somewhere else?

I use EStrongs File Explorer. It makes copying/pasting from one file to another extremely easy.
