Root [ROM] CyanogenMod 10 for the LG Motion 4G LGMS770 (l0)

What version of Windows do you have on your computer now? I can help you with installing Ubuntu, it can be a process depending on your machine and your current OS (and whether or not you want to dualboot or replace your OS altogether)

I have Windows 7. It was Windows Vista, but my son installed Windows 7 for me. I don't know where he got it, because there's no way he could have bought it being underage, but whatever. My son told me about "LUbuntu" and "Linux Mint 15". I like both, but I don't know what is the difference. My son told me not to install Ubuntu because it's too advanced for me :( Guess I'm getting old :smokingsomb:

If you install Ubuntu and KDE it will react and run almost like windows, and you can keep windows 7 for when you need it. If the machine came with Vista then it must likely isn't a UEFI setup, and installation should be a breeze.

Shrink your hard drive by the amount of space you want to designate for Ubuntu and go for it, it's not too difficult.

OK then, guess I'll try it >.>

Just went to download pg cm10 and its going to take 3 hours to download.. are there any other links for the dl?

wtf, but I checked myself and it was saying 2hrs. Dunno wtf is up with that, its usually fast.

Must be having issues on the hosts end, alot of traffic, something. I doubt any free hosting will be faster tho. ;)

So after using this mod for a few days, ive got a few questions..

1. My caller ID shows up as chinese characters, is there a way to correct this to make the caller ID english?

2. Sometimes the keyboard freezes, I think I read somewhere about that happening, was there a fix?

3. I feel like an idiot, but no matter what I do, I cant seem to get my phone to be silent/vibrate only. When it is on the vibrate profile, I still get msg sounds.. what am I doing wrong?? EDIT: If I use the rocker to pull up volume, and slide it to the left, turning the volume all the way off, then my phone acts like it should on vibrate profile. BUT if I use the profile in the pulldown menu it doesnt seem to change to vibrate/silent/etc..

4. Oh, and also it seems like I get a bar or two sometimes less reception.. anyone else have this problem?

Edit: 5. Also getting some strange charging issues.. Sometimes it seems like it doesnt charge. I was just looking at the battery stats while it was plugged in, and it went from 13% to 12% right before my eyes while plugged in. Whats this all about?

I barely got into instagram recording. Hopefully they find a fix for cm10

Hate to be the barer of bad news, but I dont use instagram, so the odds of me spending time to get just one app to work are slim to none. ;)

Now if I happen, or anyone else posts up a fix, esp if it fixes more than just one issue, I'll be more than happy to add it to the build. ;)

hopefully soon cuz i wanna use cm already the only reason why i'm sticking to stock is because of instagram video, and the also the 4G symbol, but if instagram video gets fix i might switch to cm10, cuz im really tired to stock

If that is your outlook on the whole thing, I would just recommend you buy a new phone

I finally got around to installing this.
Wow supersweet. Awesome rom.
I especially love the Devolper options.like debug apps, and especially the very last option, closes apps by longpress back button.
I noticed seems to have a different wpa supplicant, wonder if the wifi module is different than stock, seems to connect better.
nano and bash included.
i have problems with the backlight when screen off.sometimes is not completly off.
when i installed it su wasnt working ,i had a supersu apk so i installed that.
worked but every factory rest changes the permissions on the xbin applet.i have to reinstall it a few times to get permissions set right.
also Fix permissions in recovery will change the supersu xbin applet to not work.
All in all very nice
thank you for all involved

My only complaint as well. I think I had this figured this out via some setting before, but had to reflash this week and the issue came back. I'm sure I'll get it worked out with some tinkering in the display menu. It's not a killer if you make sure to check that it's completely off before putting the phone back in your pocket, but will drain your battery if you're not careful.

Anyways, thank you PG for this as I now intend to keep my Motion until Metro turns off CDMA. Also thanks to swornleadejz for the Youtube videos that reassured me that going rooted and flashed wasn't as complicated as I had originally thought. I had my Motion for over a year before I even thought about trying to breathe some new life into it, and CM10 via PG has definitely done that!

Dont forget BobZhome and hk too as my work is built from what they started. Not to mention the various fixes from members of this community.

If you or anyone else figures out a fix for the backlight issue please post up and let me know so I can add it to the build. ;)
