Official "I JUST ORDERED THE NEXUS 5!!!" Thread

So the phones will be shipped Nov 8th!

Hopefully they will have enough to ship on the 8th. I'm one who actually reads the terms of the sales agreement. There's plenty of disclaimers in the fine print which releases Google from responsibility if that date cannot be met. Please remember it's only an estimate. They can't ship what they don't have.

Yes exactly they are going to try and have them shipped by that date or on that date but it does depend on stock.

So excited, it's Nexus eve for me! I should have it around 12pm tomorrow afternoon, unless the UPS guy changes his routine!

Sounds good !

For people who ordered through Sprint, I'm sure most if not a number of you will have it on the 8th. How late that day? Depends. But almost anything you ever pre-order arrives to you on the day of release. I have pre-ordered from Sprint in the past and had it arrived the day of release. Things can change of course, but I don't see it happening. I thank the member in this thread who does work at Sprint for any insight. But I am just sharing my personal experience and general knowledge of pre-ordering.

My order is in the 2 to 3 weeks till it leaves the warehouse group of orders.

My concern is the accuracy of that statement. It could be interpreted a variety of ways, it's possible that component shortages could crop up, causing extended delays.

Or it could be as simple as they're being built and shipping regularly to the thousands of waiting customers.

If I knew I could count on getting one, that would provide piece of mind. Conversely if after waiting for weeks only to get the news they have encountered problems, that would be very disappointing.

Given the fact they've got $445 of my money on hold makes these concerns relevant. What to do...

If anything they would refund you if they couldn't deliver. More importantly don't think negative about it. Think about being in line ;)

I do have some serious worry about battery life. I am on Gnex now and I keep a battery with me...I dont work in an office, so it can be hard to get a charger some days...

Device these days are loads more efficient than what the Galaxy Nexus was. You should expect the battery life to be double that of Galaxy Nexus because of how much more efficient it is.

I'm also highly mobile. I carry one of the new second gen Astro external batteries. The company is highly skilled with state of the art products. After trying most everything else I found Anker. It recharges my Galaxy S4, as just one example, from 20% to full in less than an hour. It recharges my Nexus 7 in slightly over one hour with both connected concurrently! They offer three sizes, sell through Amazon at excellent discounts. Mine only cost $40 and it's the largest.

Its insane how much has changed in the 2 years since the gnex came out

I wouldn't be too surprised with 7-8 hours of screen on time.

I have a Note 3 and with heavy use I can get 5 hours of screen on time. Much bigger battery in the Note 3. Same processor. Nexus 5 won't be close. Not saying it'll be bad in battery life, but it won't be 7-8 hours.

True, but a much smaller screen to counter that smaller battery. Plus you don't have Samsung bloat on top of it and perhaps 4.4 has some new optimizations to help. Google Play seems to claim 7 hours on LTE, 8.5 hours on WiFi for internet usage. Not quite sure how that correlates to screen time though.

Phone comes in tomorrow and I can't stop thinking about all the sh!t I have to do before it gets here end of the day. Another Mid-term then work all day, then hockey practice!

Why cant it just be here when I wake up like a Christmas present!? :(
I wish it was that way too. But Nov. 8 is not far. And in the meantime I still have some lengthy 3 hour tests to do. Fun. At least Google actually handled the transaction well.
