Root [International] Latest modems

my modem code is DXUBMF8
Do I download the Odin flashable modems for Samsung Galaxy S4 - GT-I9500 version and flash it (tick modem instead of PDA) just like updating the firmware ?

what is the difference with the CWM/TWRP flashable modems for Samsung Galaxy S4 - GT-I9500 version ?

thanks for bearing with a newbie

I flashed my 9500 with the Russian firmware 4.3 although I am in Asia

thanks but I need the modem for Asia, not Russia

In your earlier response, can I use the modems
"Odin flashable modems for Samsung Galaxy S4 - GT-I9500" ?

Personally, I would be reluctant to flash an MJ8, Android 4.3, modem to your MF8, Android 4.2.2, firmware.

I would recommend an MF8 modem for your firmware for Asia... which is a big place and includes a huge part of Russia, so there are a couple you can try...

I9500_DXUBMF8_MODEM

I9500_DDUBMF8_MODEM

The above need to be downloaded and the .TAR file extracted and flashed via Odin by following the instructions in post #1 of GALAXY S4 (I9500/I9505) GSM / NON-HLOS - MODEM'S Collection (Odin/CWM/TWRP)

There are, for the GT-i9500 only, CWM/TWRP flashable .zip files that are also available for those who are rooted and have a custom recovery, such as PhilZ, installed. These can be downloaded to your external SD card and flashed via recovery mode.

I9500_DXUBMF8_MODEM_CWM

I9500_DDUBMF8_MODEM_CWM

Please take the time to read posts #1 and #2 of GALAXY S4 (I9500/I9505) GSM / NON-HLOS - MODEM'S Collection (Odin/CWM/TWRP) as it will answer most of your questions.

(Note: If you are in China or Hong Kong, there are other, ZC, modems you will need. I have included the DD modem for India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, etc; as this has been shown to work in other parts of Asia as well.)

^ can this be flashed to i9500 or i9505 running any version of Android ?

I tend to stick to a modem that matches, or is very close to, my firmware and country code usually. For instance, XXUEMKE based ROM and XXUEMKE modem, for the i9505. Bear in mind that your location can have a bearing on which modems will be best for you... XX works fine on European phones but if you are in, say, India then DD is better or DX if you are in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, UB for Brazil and so on. See Samsung country codes, here.

In post #1 and #2 of GALAXY S4 (I9500/I9505) GSM / NON-HLOS - MODEM'S Collection (Odin/CWM/TWRP) you will find a great many modems for the GT-i9500 that are Odin or CWM/TWRP flashable, (N.B. CWM/TWRP modems are only available for the i9500).
