Okay people, :) we now have a fully functional CWMR

The Goods

My Builds

To Install:
  1. Code:
    adb reboot bootloader
  2. Code:
    fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

NOTE: To access the backup via a root explorer, look in /mnt/clockworkmod. ;)

Thanks to
  • Exel - for testing
  • ricky310711 - for making me use my noggin. ;)
  • Anyone else that tested!!! I thank you! ;)

DISCLAIMER: As always, I am not responsible for what you do with your device. USE AT OWN RISK!!!

Getting my Nexus 5 later on today. Will be more than happy to test this.

Someone over at XDA tried already and was unsuccessful, it wouldn't boot into recovery.

Yea I spoke with shimp208 about his build. He tried build from scratch and I've not seen his configs to know where he might went wrong going that route. I used the aosp device tree and prebuilt kernel, as did Troy_Dees (TWRP) who has TWRP available for the N5 too. ;)

We have a booting img, so I'm on the right track at least. utkanos informed me about some possible issues, but not sure if they will be issues or not yet, we'll see. ;)

Awesome, thanks for working on this buddy.
I don't really like TWRP, I love CWM.

As I said before, my Nexus 5 is out for delivery so I should have it soon, will be more than happy to test any builds you have.

Yes...Unlocked and root, but no custom recovery.

Ah, there is a script in the android os that makes the device auto flash the Stock recovery every time it's booted up. So if you flash custom recovery, it gets overwritten by stock recovery as soon as you not the device into the system. Let me locate the file since I forgot the name.

Edit: The file is /system/recovery-from-boot.p. By deleting it, you stop this process. Once deleted, flash custom recovery through the bootloader one more time and it will stick. I would back up this file though.

You're looking for a file called recovery-from-boot.p, that's the reflashing script. Here's a shot from my device.

Where does CWM store the backups?
I would like to store a copy on Windows PC.
...and can I rename the backup without MD5 error? How?

Should be under a folder called "Clockwork mod" on the internal of the phone when you plug it into a PC.

As for renaming it, I have no clue. I usually don't mess with backup names as long as it includes the date and time I backed up.
