Love using the Optimus G Pro. Now I have a question about operating software updates, hopefully you can assist.
So when this new Kit Kat is released will I be able to update the phone to that version ?? How does that work ?? How do I update to it ?? I've never owned an android device before so this is all new to me.
Also, why do all the android operating systems have to be named after junk food ??
Thanks,
Pete

Yup. What happens is Google releases the source code to the manufacturers, who then determine which of their phones to develop it for. Each phone has different hardware, so different changes and tweaks have to be made to Android to install it. Then they make their customizations (Touchwiz for Samsung, Sense for HTC, etc). At this point, it is released to the carriers who do extensive 'testing' on their networks to make sure the OS is acceptable. Only then is the update released to the end user. More often than not, it dies at the manufacturer, who decides they don't want to update their phones.

Verizon is the worst btw for delaying(probably intentionally IMO) their updates.

You'll have to wait for a ROM.

There's a guy on XDA-Developers who posted an email from LG customer service stating that his Optimus G will not be receiving KitKat. It's a damn shame considering that its the cousin of the Nexus 4(which isn't receiving Kitkat just yet).
you can't always trust customer support through because they never really know that that's all they are told to say until the team that manages the updates provide the list of devices that are going to be updated
