Root [International] ECHOE Rom

Horses for courses as they say. Contrary to iT0mm0, I am finding the latest version of Echoe ROM, Slim, No Kitchen, v6 with the faux123 kernel, very good. In truth, I do not think there is much, if any, difference between v6 and v5+. If there is, it is, "under the hood". The main thing is the use of the faux123 kernel which has worked faultlessly since Wednesday. Gone are the Wi-Fi problems experienced with KT and Ausdim. No lags, no freezes and no Forced Closes. All the kernels that I have tried with Echoe, KT, Ausdim and faux123, have given me roughly the same overnight battery drain. That is to say, about 0.5% per hour with just sound switched off. The issue I was having was that I found that I was losing battery with screen on. KT was the worst offender, for me. Ausdim was better and faux123 has been better still. Unlike KT or Ausdim, faux123 does not come with a kernel tweaking tool by default. However, if you so desire, one can be downloaded from the Play Store, Faux123 Kernel Enhancement Pro, for the princely sum of.... somebody sit Hawker and Syd down and give them some smelling salts...

Hi there. I went from a stock rom to Echoe v5 full and then to v6 full. The ROM in general is pretty good, but about once every 24hrs it hangs and I either have to force a reboot or it just reboots itself. Sometimes it does it funky flickering of the screen before a self-reboot which I have never seen before. Any thoughts on what could cause this? I reinstalled each app from the play store and didn't do any form of recovery - if that makes a difference.

Thanks, Ray.

Hello rzkman!

2 suggestions come to mind...

1. From Recovery, wipe the cache partition and dalvik cache, (if you are on PhilZ custom recovery it's under Advanced).

2. Re-download and re-flash your ROM.

Hope that helps.

Also, make sure that you have removed all traces of your v5 kernel as mentioned in my previous post.

If you want a free alternative trickster mod does the job

Trickster MOD Kernel Settings

Cheers Shotty! You're spoiling us. I did d/l and install Trickster MOD Kernel Settings but in the end I only used one setting to change the scheduler from cfq to noop. Seems to have helped though.

(One quick question, off topic. Why do you keep changing your avatar to pictures of your sex face? You're changing it more often than Hawker changes his underpants!)

Lol. I'd only had Pennywise as my Halloween costume and he was starting to creep me out so I needed to change it. Anyway you haven't seen anything until you've seen my Christmas avatar.

Oh yes, I'm a slim lad though.....

Looks like we all might have to wait a bit longer for the Echoe v7 Slim ROM judging from this post by tschulieh, here.

It seems that tschulieh has had enough of the constant, and largely unappreciative, demands of posters on xda and will not be bringing out an Echoe v7 Slim No Kitchen ROM as with v6, although friedrich is coming out with something similar.

I did not realise that tschulieh was not in fact a partner in the the Echoe ROM and also, that she is a female, (you remember those... the ones with bumps at the front, less hairy and smell better than most of you lot ;)), something of a welcome rarity, for me, in Android ROM circles. It was her idea, she told me, to bring out the Echoe Slim ROM and No Kitchen that I, and lots of you, have been using.

I, for one, hope that she reconsiders and changes her mind in future.

Which faux version are you using ironass? Linky linky plz

Check your PM's old sloth. Actually it's the MJ5, faux123 release. Works fine on MJ8... I doubt that there is any difference between MJ5 and MJ8 kernels anyway.

Next, you'll be telling me that you haven't got the latest Google Play Store .apk, v4.4.21, with the side sliding drawer!

Anything against KT kernel, as you seem to go back to faux123 quite fast. I`m also on faux and i`m quite happy with it, just wandering if anyone had tried the release with KT.

I've tried KT on 2 other occasions and both times I've been disappointed with it. See post, #152.

Just noticed, the link for d/l'ing faux123 is in that post! I wasted a PM to Syd. :hmpf:

I'm using faux123 in conjunction with Trickster MOD Kernel Settings from the Play Store, thanks to Shotty's post #155. The only settings I've changed are setting governor to, "intellidemand", at Syd's recommendation, and changed the scheduler from, "cfq", to, "noop".

No problem with camera and wallpaper here, Syd. My Contacts, Dialler and Settings are translucent though. I thought it was a feature. I did a quick and dirty last night too.

UPDATE. I lied. I have wallpaper both sides of camera on 4x3 mode. Think it might be a, "feature", of this ROM.

Oh yes, it disappears in wide mode. Not sure this is a great "feature"!
